Bruce Goff...
considered by many architectural
critics as a
vernacular
architect,  it would porbably
be more accurate to
describe him as an
indigenous
architect.
Goff designed some of the
most unusual residences
ever built in the USA.
--o--
Most of his projects were
built by the owners
themselves, often on
a rather leisurely schedule.
These pictures are of the
residence of Joe & Itsuko Price
which was built near
Bartlesville, Olahoma
over a 20 year period beginning
in 1956.
The building was expanded
over the years to display a
collection of Japanese art
acquired by the Prices'.
After the Price family relocated
to southern California,
the house was generously
donated to the Oklahoma
University School of
Architecture, where
Goff had been teaching
for the past few decades.
--o--
In 1996, the house suffered
a major fire, so tours are no
longer possible.
