2003 GSDCA-WDA National Schutzhund & World Qualification Trial

Rules for Participation

The dog entered MUST have already attained the Schutzhund title of entry prior to participation in this National event.

All entries MUST include copies of their WDA score book, AKC Registration, certified pedigree, GSDCA Membership Card, & GSDCA-WDA Membership Card.

Guidelines for GSDCA-WDA WUSV Team Selection

Effective as of 1998, the National Championship will also serve as the Qualification Trial for the WUSV Team for the GSDCA.

All dogs MUST be registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC).

To qualify, a dog MUST be under 10 years of age at the start of the WUSV Trail.

The number of handler/dog pairs selected to the GSDCA-WDA WUSV team will be in accordance with WUSV guidelines. The top scoring dog-handler teams will automatically qualify if they have a score of at least 270 and pronounced. The next highest scoring qualifying team will become the alternate, subject to the same restrictions. The remaining dogs who have met the qualifying criteria will be placed on a "reserve list" in descending order of placement.

If fewer than the allocated number of teams qualify, the Board of Directors will make a decision about filling empty slots, as it is clearly in the GSDCA-WDA's best interest to field a team which is both complete and of high quality.

A handler may enter the qualifying trial with more than one dog. If the handler "qualifies" with more than one dog, only the highest scoring of these dogs will be included on the team; the second dog will be removed from the list of qualifiers and the next highest scoring team will take it’s place.

If a dog should be unable to participate in the WUSV trial after being selected for the team, the alternate shall replace that dog. Should the handler of the dog which is unable to participate also have "qualified" with a second dog, that dog would then be placed at the top of the reserve list. The dog at the top of the reserve list shall then become the alternate.

Except in exceptional circumstances, no dog/handler teams will be selected for the WUSV team if they have not participated in the Qualification Trial.
