THE CULT 2002-08-02 Rumors are running that The Cult have disbanded an gone onto various solo projects after being disappointed with the way their label, Atlantic, handled the campaing for their reunion album "Beyond Good And Evil". Though no official statement has been made, thecultnet.com reports that drummer Matt Sorum, who has a solo records out soon, recently confessed the band is just about over. LOST HORIZON 2002-08-02 Sweden�s kings of power metal, Lost Horizon, are presently working on their follow up album to last years amazing "Awakening The World". "Lost Horizon is currently writing material for an second album," "The music will have the same windy true metal feel like the debut, with immense passion and melody. Lost Horizon expect to records their second full-length album sometimes in the first half of 2002 for an September 2002 release on Music For Nation. ARCH ENEMY 2002-07-02 Sweden�s Arch Enemy have set "Burning Angel" as the title of their forthcoming Japanese-only CD-Single. Featuring "Burning Angel" (album Version), "Lament Of A Mortal Soul" (unreleased from Wages Of Sin"), "Starbreaker" (Judas Priest cover with vocalist Johan Liiva) and an video clip for "Ravenous". The EP is an obvious response to the double-disc version of "Wages Of Sin" that features the same bonus material. DANZIG 2002-07-02 Danzig have set "Danzig 7 : I Luciferi" as the title of their forthcoming album. The groups first on Spitfire Records is set for an April release. DEVIN TOWNSEND 2002-04-02 Devin Townsend has begun rehearsing for two new albums, expected to be released at the same time by this year�s end. His fromer studio has been dismantled as a new one is built and he just got an new monster computer system where he can get started on the preliminaries. Devin is rehearsing twice a day, first with Byron, Je and Gene, then another for the second project with drummer Scotty McCarger, former Strapping Young Lad keyboardist. TOMMY LEE 2002-04-02 Former M�tley Crue drummer Tommy Lee has apparently dropped the Methods Of Mayhem tag and will release his new album, "Never A Dull Moment" through MCA Records on May 21. The album was produced by Scott Humphrey (Rob Zombie, Powerman 5000) and features Incibus guitarist Mike Einziger and Deftones` Chino Moreno. The Album also features a cover of David Bowie`s "Fame" and it will be called "Fame-02". RUNNING WILD 2002-02-04 Running Wild have hired bassist Peter Pichel for their nex tour, also on board is new drummer Matthias Liebetruth and new guitarist Bernd Aufermann. The fisrt gig with the new line-up takes palce in Germany on March 21st. PROBOT 2002-02-01 Probot, feturing Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and a host of hevy metal celebrities, have posted an MP3 on www.fooarchive.com for the song "Shake Your Blood" from the outfit`s yet-untitled forth coming album. Recorded in December 2001, "Shake Your Blood" features Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister on voclas, King Diamond, Slayer`s Tom Araya, Cathedral`s Lee Dorrian, Celtic Frost`s Thomas Gabriel Warrior many other notables. There is still no Record Label involved in this project so we can`t tell you any release date. RHAPSODY 2002-02-01 Here`s the tracklistning for the new Rhapsody album, "The Power Of The Dragon Flame", out on March 19th. BRIAN MAY 2002-01-31 Former Queen axman Brain May will join the Foo Fighters in the studio in Los Angeles, there he will recording an guest appearance for the groups yet untitled fourth album. QUEENSRYCHE 2002-01-29 The Queensryche website, www.queensryche.com, reports that the band are in the studion and have written four songs, one already have lyrics. The new material is said to be "some of mthe heaviest Queensryche songs ever written". In related new, Geoff Tate will begin mixing his new solso album in February 11th. JEFF SCOTT SOTO 2002-01-29 Jeff Scott Soto has singed an worldwide deal with Now & Then/Frontiers. His solo album, already in the recording stages, will be out later this year. MOT�RHEAD 2002-01-29 Castle will release "Mot�rhead - The Bronze Albums", an individually numbered 4CD box set containing four classic Mor�thead albums, all digitally remastered from the original tapes. The CD`s are Overkill, Bomber, Ace Of Spades and an exclusive bonus disc called Iron Fist. The box set will be out on March 8th in UK. GAMMA RAY 2002-01-28 During March the older albums of Gamma Ray will be re-released. All the albums will have three bonus tracks each plus all titles will be digitally re-mastered, all will come in digipacks. All albums will also come with new cover image and, if you put all together in two lines (3 of them in a row) you`ll get one big cover image. URIAH HEEP 2002-01-22 From the Uriah Heep camp, a new John Lawton album, "Lawton Unplugged", is in the works. The project will feature John on vocals and Steve Dunning on guitar and bass. The album will include classic Heep tunes as you never heard them before, as well as original material... and some surprising twistsare in store. Ken Hensley will be also recording an acoustic album. He will be taking 15-18 songs and doing them in the studio in an "acoustic" mood with just himself on guitar, vocals and piano and Dave Kilminster on guitar and background vocals. The album`s working title is "Ken Hensley... Acoustic Reflections" and they will start the work on January 21st. Ken is presently compiling the song list but there will be at least two brand new songs on it. BRIAN JOHNSON 2002-01-22 Total Rock reports that AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson continues to make surprise appearances away from his day job.The latest will take place on February 3rd, when his plays with a band that also includes actors Jimmy Nail and Tim Healy at Newcastle City Hall. SEBASTIAN BACH 2002-01-22 Music channel VH1 have given Sebastian Bach his own TV-show called "Sebastian Bach Forever Wild" and it willhave premier on January 18th at 10pm. Get ready for the best rock videos of the 70`s, 80`s, 90`s, and tons of metal trivia, wild places, people and stuff. BLOODBATH 2002-01-22 Sweden`s Bloodbath, featuring Katatonia`s Jonas Renkse and Anders Nystr�m, Opeth`s Mikael �kerfeldt and Dan Swan� are gearing up record their full-lenght debut at Swan�`s Sanctury Studios in February. Bloodbath are negotiating with several labels to release the record, but according to �kerfeldt, the Bloodbath name was sold to Century Media to release their "Breeding Death" mini album. EVERY MOTHERS NIGHTMARE 2002-01-22 Every Mothers Nightmare are releasing their new album, "A Deeper Shade Of Grey", on February 9th. YNGWIE MALMSTEEN 2002-01-22 Yngwie`s "Concerto Suit Live" is out in Korea on VHS and DVD. He is currently composing new material for another Concert Suit album and it looks like he will once again be recording with the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. AXEL RUDI PELL 2002-01-22 Axel Rudi Pell`s new album, entitled "Shadowzone", will be released on April 22nd trough Steamhammer/SPV. DIO 2002-01-21 DIO have parted way with guitarist Craig Goldy and have replaced him with Doug Aldrich. The band are still in the studio recording their upcoming album, rumored to be titled "Kill The Dragon" for a March release. MEGADETH 2002-01-21 Megadeth are about to release their first ever live album called "Rude Awakening" and is an two-CD set that will be relesed by Sanctury Records on March 19th.They have recorded 24 songs, including hit singles, fan favourites and rare tracks, the set list where chosen by fans via www.megadeth.com. METALIUM 2002-01-17 The new album of Metalium will be released through Massacre Records of February 25th. The title of the album is "Hero-Nation - Chapter III" and along with typical up-tempo double bass bangers , this time there are also some mid-tempo songs. In addition to that, the guest appearance of the keybord legends Ken Hensley (ex-Uriah Heep) and Don Airey (ex-Ozzy Osbourne) give a special flair to the songs. The album will be released as a limited edition with a second CD, including 3 live tracks, a multimedia video and a screensaver. OVERKILL 2002-01-17 New York trashers Overkill have officially signed to Spitfire Records after one successful album, "Bloodletting", on the Metal-Is label. Initial plans for Overkill are to release a live album and a DVD that`s expected to follow in the footsteps of 1988`s "Fuck You" -E.P. and 1995`s "Wrecking Your Neck - Live". After Overkill`s live records is released, the band and label will then focus on the band`s thirteenth full length album. "Personally I`ve spent many hours of my youth crowd-surfing to "Hammerhead" and "Rotten To The Core" (as did several others here at the label) so it`s needless to say we are beyond excited", said label representative Jon Paris to Digital Metal.com. Overkill`s two yet-untitled Spitfire Records albums are expected to drop in summer (live album) and winter (studio album). NIGHT IN GALES 2002-01-17 German melodic detah metal act Night In Gales have reportedly left Massacre Records after the label refused to pay tour support on their recent trip with God Dethroned and Misteltein. Night In Gales are purportedly svering their contract with Massacre Records for also not supplying them with proper promotion for their latest album, "Necrodynamic". The same fiasco happened with Night In Gales former label, Nuclear Blast Records. However North American fans eager to hear the follow-up to "Nailwork", they will be able to do so via a license deal with Canada`s Skyscraper Music. The album should be out sometime in winter 2002 followed shortly by "Night In Gales". We will have more news about Night In Gales and their record label when it happens. MASTERPLAN 2002-01-17 Roland Grapow and Uli Kusch have set Masterplan as the name on their new band and have selected current ARK voclaist Jorn Lande to front the band. Despite the fact that the group yet to secure a record contract, Masterplan are planning on completing their debut album at Grapow`s Crazy Cat Studio by the end of March before shopping around for a deal. Michael Kiske will contribute lead voclas on one song , a duet with Jorn, and the album will se the light of day sometime this summer.
