The Case For Jesus Christ

The Profile of Jesus

Did Jesus and only Jesus match the
identity of the messiah.

The Old Testament made more than four dozen prophecies of the Messiah.  They prophecised his place of birth, the time of his triumphant entry into Jerusalem, his betrayal, the method of his death, and even the resurrection.

Some say it was a coincidence that Jesus matched and fulfilled these prophecies.  Peter W. Stoner calculated that the chance of that happening are, "...one chance in a trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion!"   Some prophecies he had control over, such as riding into Jerusalem on a donkey.   But others he did not; for example, his method of death, his birth place and time, and his betrayal.

There are many claims of other so-called messiah's besides Jesus; implying that Jesus may not be the only man to match the description from the Old Testament.  Stories of other men who were crucified and have been resurrected have been told.  First of all, those stories don't have as much historical backing as Jesus does.  But even if they did, as Luke 24:44 says, "Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms," everything must be fulfilled.  No other being has ever fulfilled all the prophecies mentioned from the Old Testament.  Jesus is clearly the only one who matches this description.
