-So it finally looks like we have release dates scheduled for australia...."Change" on May 15 and "Love And War" on June 5.

-Starting work on myspace page.....will be located at
myspace.com/merriweatherdiscography.

-Yahoo will apparently be closing down geocities later in the year, so I guess I've got to transfer everything from this site somewhere else. Won't that be fun.
I guess I'll probably have to make a myspace page or something.

-
"Red" video now up at youtube.

-
Daniel's website is now live - and it only took 5 years. It's not actually much more than a myspace-style page with a not-very-informative blog done by his record company, a couple of photos and a feed from his Twitter page. Not worth the wait. And while we're on the subject of Twitter, it appears Daniel is now wanting to join the ranks of desparate attention-seeking celebrities our media is filled with as he's now "twittering" to that creepy famehungry pervert P**** H*****.

-What a surprise, the album release date has been pushed back again. Although this time at least it's only by a week. Still no word on the Australian release stae though.

-OK, having now heard six more demo versions of songs from the album, I can now say that "Live By Night" is actually a GREAT song....but the "Love & War" version is rubbish (it's not actually that different, but has a much weaker vocal take; unnecessary compression on the drums; unnecessary echo on the vocals and unnecessary keyboard bits). "Getting Out" is actually not that bad either - again the final version has a weaker vocal take, way too much compression on the drums and the guitar playing is much too  stiff and rigid.

-So after the *incident* with the album that happened last month, I was hoping that the record company would give us more tracks on the eventual release - not so. It appears that we're actually getting LESS tracks that the promo release. Hmmmm. Not that tracks that have been omitted are any great loss, mind you; (only "All Of The People" and "You Don't Know What Love Is"), but I don't like the new track order at all... it just seems really random. I thought the ordering of the first five tracks on the promo was perfect, actually. Anyway, here's the new tracklisting:

1. For Your Money
2. Impossible
3. Change
4. Chainsaw
5. Cigarettes (Crap Version)
6. Red
7. Could You
8. Getting Out
9. Water And A Flame
10. Giving Everything Away For Free
11. Not Giving Up
12. Live By Night.

And just in case anyone's interested, which I'm sure you're not, here's what *
I* would have chosen as the final tracklisting (updated!):

1. Impossible
2. Could You
3. For Your Money
4. Chainsaw
5. Change
6. Not Giving Up
7. Cigarettes (Original/Good Version)
8. For Winter
9. Red
10. Giving Everything Away For Free
11. Live By Night (Demo Version)
12. You Don't Know What Love Is (Demo) (maybe have this one as an unlisted track or something)

-Phrase's new album is out April 24. It features Daniel on the track "Chains"

-----------------------------------------------------------
-Good news and 2x bad news on the album front....The Good: no "I Think I'm In Love With Her" (I always thought that song was a throwaway). Bad: No "For Winter"!!!!!!!! which idiot decided to not include it??! Grrrr. Daniel or Marlon, if you're reading this - which I highly doubt - and you actually care about your fans - which I doubt even more - can you please release a Love & War outtakes album?? Include "For Winter" and the ORIGINAL version of "Cigarettes". Thank you. And while you're at it, could you please release the Fifth Season album as well?
Oh, second item of bad news: tha album has been pushed back to the end of May.

1. Impossible - Next single. It's pretty good. Sounds like "Stop Me Pt 2".
2. Could You - Great!!! Samples "California Dreamin", as previously mentioned. Kind of sounds like 60s Brill Building pop filtered through hip hop.
3. For Your Money - BRILLIANT. Highlight of the album. 70's rock styled ballad.
4. Chainsaw - BRILLIANT, as you know, since you've probably already heard it. Reminiscent of late 60's/early 70s funky soul.
5. Change - You've already heard it. It's OK.
6. Water and a Flame - incredibly lacklustre, as expected. Wouldn't even be a good song without Adulle on it. Although it possibly could have been better (but still bad) with a different duet partner - Daniel and Adele have no chemistry. Plus it also sounds out of place on the album.
7. Cigarettes - the recent honky-tonk flavoured mix; vasty inferior to the brilliant original version, as previously mentioned.
8. Red - Really nice ballad. Check out the original version by british singer-songwriter Scott McFarnon
here. Daniel's is much better though :).
9. Getting Out - mellow-sounding throwaway. Should have been left off and replaced with something better.
10. Not Giving Up - Sounds like "Stop Me Pt 3"- which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Have now decided this track is a lot better than I originally thought.
11. Live By Night - 70's singer/songwriter styled ballad. Have now decided it's very boring.
12. All Of The People - Adequate  "save the world" ballad. The chorus kind of reminds me of 90s jazz/rock group Mother Earth. Have now decided it's not very good.
13. Giving Everything Away For Free - (aka "I Kill Myself".) Great singer-songwriter styled ballad. Love it!
14. You Don't Know What Love Is - very inferior to the demo version, unfortunately. Is listed as a bonus track. I don't know if that means it's a worldwide bonus track or just for the UK or Japan or what though.

The verdict:: Very good but would have been AMAZING  with "For Winter"; the original version of "Cigarettes" and a rawer, bluesier version of "You Don't Know What Love Is". And without "Water And A Flame" and "Getting Out".

Oh, and "For Your Money" = Amazing. 3rd single...?

-I will soon be giving the site a facelift; condesing it and removing some of the unnecessary stuff that's on here - plus stuff that I know I'll never finish (like transcribing lyrics and writing a bio)

-Amazon.com now has "
Red" listed as an upcoming (import) single release for April....maybe "Red" wiill now be released as the second single instead of "Impossible"?

-Daniel can now be stalked on
Twitter. Although  what someone who rarely gives away any personal information in interviews; who never gave ANY peronal information away in interviews until 2007; who rarely DID any interviews until 2007; who didn't even have any record company bio until 2007 is doing posting their every movent online for the world to see I don't quite understand.

-"Change" charts at #8 in the UK!!!

-What a surprise, the
Love And War release date has been pushed back again...now slated for April 28.

-So "Could You Be" DOES sample
"California Dreamin'"...

-

-According to
undercover.com.au; Phrase will be guesting on "Love And War"...

-Another song that I didn't know about will apparently be on the album....called "Could You".

-Apparently there's "Love And War" samplers floating about in the UK...

-The release date for "Love And War" has been brought forward (!!! and I was expecting it to be pushed back again...). Feb 9 in Australia (according to Ken Walker's column in
Inpress); and March 9 in the  UK.

-OK, I couldn't help myself - I've updated the site. I now have a list of what I'm 90% sure will be the tracks included on "
Love and War" including most songwriting credits. (They won't appear in that order obviously).

-
It has been revealed that "Water And A Flame" will be a duet with Adele - which I'm not too excited about since I don't usually like duets and I find Adele rather boring.

-
Daniel performs "Change" on BBC's Radio 1.

-"Change" video now up at
youtube.

-Daniel's myspace now has a dreadful new version of "Cigarettes" on his myspace page which sounds like something that you would expect to hear at a burlesque club.

-"Pot Of Gold" has been remade with Wale for his new mixtape. The original, of course; is vastly superior *hint hint Marlin*.
