Thought Eighty-One:  23/06/02
Here's another crap Steven Byres reference.  Given the phrase, "Pants on fire", I think part of the song "Ring of Fire" should be changed to "#and it burns, burns, burns, the pants of Byres, the pants of Byres#".
Thought Eighty-Two:  23/06/02
I think I shall open a completely religion-free pub every Christmas, and call it the "Bar Humbug".

The phare "Sleep like a baby" is wrong, because when you want babies to sleep, they don't, they wake up sporadically and cry loudly.

I've noticed that, when you want silence, whispering can be worse than a lot of loud talking.  With loud talking, you can just block it out as continuous noise, but when someone is whispering, it is more off-putting, because you don't trust people who are whispering, because it is usually because they are trying to hide something from you, so it's hard to not try to eavesdrop.

I've thought of a couple of ways to increase the amount of people turning-out to vote for elections.  Pole dancers.  Or, in this case, Poll dancers.  Or maybe the government can make the General Election like Wimbledon, and give wildcards to people.  They would do this by adding a large amount of free votes to one person, so people would be more inclined to vote, to stop that person from winning.  Like the French election.  It got a really high election turn out, because people didn't want Le Pen becoming President.

Something someone said really annoyed me this week.  Probably because it was being said by Mrs. Turner, who is a complete bitch and is full of herself (I know the God Squad won't agree with that, but that's because they are all complete bitches and full of themselves as well).  Speaking of Turners, Mr. Turner said he "liked my style" of solving algebraic fractions.  Wait until he sees my A/S exam result.  Anyway, Mrs. Turner was having a go at someone for talking in class, and started on about people being more polite in her day.  For a start, it's blatent hypocracy, because she's really rude to people (she's like Anne Robinson).  But also, people didn't have more respect for their elders in their day.  It's just that, we live today in a democracy where we can speak freely.  But in her day, people were threatened with violence if they spoke back, or sexually abused by Catholic Priests (Oh, wait, that thing about Catholic Priests still happens today, nevermind).

Isn't it odd that, even though it isn't a particularly common surname, a lot of football players are called Cole?  Countries like South Korea have about 5 players called Lee in their squad, but Lee is a common name anyway.  I was thinking about this, in one of my many thoughts on completely trivial, unimportant matters and considered that maybe it was because Cole rhymes so easily with 'Goal', so newspaper articles will be more likely to mention their name in the headline if they score than anyone else.  This means the player becomes more confident, and other, bigger clubs are made more aware of them.  This is obviously wrong, and it's clearly co-incidence that decides who shares names with who.  But co-incidences are boring.  But the Keanes of Ireland, Roy, Robbie and Michael in the Under 21 squad, could've constantly had headlines of "Mean, Keane, Scoring (or Fighting, in Roy's case) Machine".

Another Random Thought about fashion.  Since the World Cup, it's fashionable for clubs to buy Senagalese players.  Some examples:  Cisse moving to Birmingham; Fernando Coly moving to Arsenal;  El Hadj Diof to Liverpool; and Bouba Diop's attempted move to Liverpool, that broke down because he couldn't get a work permit.  It's also currently fashionable to be linked to Brazilian players, even though Brazilians aren't naturally suited to the English game, according to Ronaldo.  For example, Juninho's move to Middlesborough, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo being linked with Man Utd, and Cheating bast....I mean....Rivaldo being linked with Newcastle.

Do gay people feel pressurised to act really camp, and act really effeminate, even though they don't want to?  I was wondering this because I've heard in the past about women feeling pressurised to act like bimbos, even though they don't want to.  Also, heterosexual men are sometimes made to feel under pressure to act really macho and tough.

I was watching Equinox last night.  It basically said that immortality would be theoretically possible in a few decades.  It kept saying the phrase "proof of principle".  I've thought ahead, and the three possible logical conclusions of discovering immortality, as far as I can tell, would be:
We all become identical and act like robots, because we are all so perfect;
Reproduction becomes unneccesary, so evolution doesn't happen, then we all get wiped out by the same disease, or environmental change.
All out war between the imortal First World and the still poor Third World.
