| After times had changed I recognized that I never drove that car which is now called the east-german "Volkswagen". So I decided to buy one in late 1995 but I noticed quickly that it will take me more hours to repair it than I could drive with it. All together I drove the Trabant 601 deluxe 12.000 km. This car has a plastic body and flat springs, the engine is a 2 cylinder two-stroke engine with 26 hp. This car was built in the mid 1980s. |
| One day I lost a rear tire which was a funny but dangerous situation. I just bound a piece of hard-wood under the rear brake and drove slowly home...it was a ski you know. One other funny story with that car happend in a bigger city: I parked the Trabant and locked it. Than a japanese tv-journalist came to me and asked a few questions such as why I'm driving a Trabant and how long I will do itand so on. That happend with no other car I ever had! |
