Wall to Wall: Unreal Slot Canyons

Escalante - Grand Staircase National Monument
Snow, ancient ruins, jackasses & tourists, rattlesnakes & slot canyons, floating through pools & more canyons, finally rest with friends - that's what we have been up to lately.

On April 30, we drove to Pagosa Springs, CO, and stayed with Meghan's brother and his wife. Rob & Joanna Van Vleet put us up for a few relaxing days, and then travelled with us to Telluride, CO. After a couple of snow-filled days in Colorado, we made our way to Moab, UT, where we woke early on May 6 and ran just shy of 13 miles along side the rim of the Colorado River on Moab's famous "slick rock trail."

Travel Log

July

June
From there we travelled south to Bridges National Monument for just one night.

Over the next week, we completed our first backpack: a 4-day, 3-night exploration of Grand Gulch and Bullet Canyon in the Grand Gulch Primitive Study Area (B.L.M.).
Following the backpack, we headed further south into the northern part of Arizona, through Monument Valley and into the Grand Canyon National Park.

The next two weeks we set off on several daytrips and two more backpacks with our adventure friends, Karin & Scott Wilson, who have a home in Prescott, AZ. Post Prescott, we first travelled to Pheonix, AZ to see old Colorado pals Chris Bell & Michele Moses, then spent one more night alone and on the road at Lyman Lake State Park, and finally crossed over into New Mexico.

Our time in New Mexico will be included in the next posting for the month of June. We hope you continue to look in on us and please continue to Email us along the way!
