Did anyone ever tell you that Texas is HOT during the summer? Duh, you say? Well, at least we had a lot of time to CHILL with our good friends and family during the month of June. Thank you all, and happy viewing! |

On June 1, we kicked it in Albuquerque, NM. Our good friends, Jim & Alicia, let us stay with them while we rested for a 1/2 marathon in Taos, NM on June 3. Once in Taos, we got a lovely surprise - Meghan's Mom, Lynn, travelled to New Mexico and met us for the start of our race! Meghan's sister, Cristen, had found us the day before in Santa Fe, so we enjoyed a lot of support. After our run, we backpacked with Jim & Alicia up to Williams Lake under Mt. Wheeler (the highest point in New Mexico). As we headed out of New Mexico, we stopped at Carlsbad Caverns National Monument and then spent the night just over the border at Guadalupe National Park in Texas. Over the next week, we hung out in Central Texas, where we attended the Kerrville Folk Music Festival in Kerrville with pals, Christopher & Kia. Then we stayed in San Marcos, with more beautiful people, Scott & Shari Caton, and their sweet family, including our godson, James David Caton. Mid-June found us in Spring, TX, staying with Meghan's parents and visiting Meghan's longtime (and pregnant) friend, Julie, and her husband, Jeff Davis, in Galveston. Before leaving Texas, we stopped in and spent a night with old friends Brian & Jennifer Kieta in Dallas. The rest of June belonged to Missouri. A few days in Springfield, MO, with David's grandparents, Imon & Kathleen Bartley, and a few days with his parents, Jane & Lyman, in David's hometown of St. Joseph. We loved this time with family and friends. At the end of the month, we got to squeeze in a canoe trip down the Current River in the Missouri Ozarks. So two months into our travels, and now we head Northeast into Illinois and Wisconsin. Those adventures, plus photos of Meghan's family, will be included in the next update for the month of July. We hope you continue to look in on us, and please continue to Email us along the way! |
