Rules
We will be playing by the UPA 10th Edition Rules with the following exceptions and clarifications.
Scoring, Caps, Timeouts, Halftimes
Saturday: All games to 11 (13 soft cap), win by 2. Each team will have 2 timeouts per game. There is a mirrored half at 6, but no halftime (round times are short).
Sunday: All games to 13 (15 soft cap), win by 2. Each team will have 3 timeouts per game. There is a mirrored half at 7, but no halftime. Timeouts do not last more than 90 seconds.
The Callahan score and brick pull rule are in effect both days according the the 10th Edition Rules. Foot blocks are allowed.
Definition of Caps: Maximum score limits imposed before or during a game to limit the time required to declare a winner. The game ends when one team's score first reaches the cap.
a) A soft cap is a maximum score limit imposed before the event
b) A time cap is a maximum score limit imposed during a game once a predetermined time of play has elapsed and after the current scoring attempt is completed.
c) A hard cap is the ending of the game once a predetermined time of game has elapsed and after the current scoring attempt is completed. If the score is tied, the teams play until one additional goal is scored.
The time cap will be signaled 15 minutes before the end of the allotted game time. Add two to the higher score. Play to that score.
The hard cap will be signaled 5 minutes before the end of the allotted game time except in the championship game(s) where a 1 point time cap will be signaled instead. Champion has to score to win. When the hard cap is signaled, finish that point. If the game is tied after that point, play final point.
Communicate with the coach of the team you are playing before the game, so both teams are clear concerning the time rules. If games run over during the hard cap, teams will have to turn around and play their next game when that game is scheduled to start.
Coaches
All teams will be required to have at least one coach, parent, or adult on the field with the team at all times. We want everyone to have a safe and fun tournament.
