For this website, I had in mind a site designed for a small, local shop. Uncle Bob's Cycle Shop is a small business. It's not a major chain. Uncle Bob is a down to earth guy who loves bikes and loves to share his passion with others. With that in mind, the vision for this website was to reflect Bob's business values. He's a simple, honest business owner without all the fluff. So, Bob needed a simple, yet effective website that would be geared to the variety of cycling enthusiasts in his community.
The overall look of the site is clean and streamlined. There isn't a lot of clutter. The site tells you what you need to know about Bob and what his shop offers. I chose a basic font; nothing fancy, just clean and easy to read. Along the same lines, the color scheme is simple as well. It's easy to read and isn't flashy.
I would like to have developed the Sales page more. I would like to have included an online inventory of the items that Bob sells in the shop. Consumers need to know what he has available in the store currently, and they also need to be able to see what additional items he has access to. Initially I had wanted to be able to include online ordering for parts and accessories, but the more I thought about it I realized that online sales just isn't part of Bob's business. He runs a small, simple shop. Online ordering would add a layer of complexity that Bob doesn't want to mess with. Also, online ordering of parts and most accessories is unnecessary since the consumer most likely will still need to come to the shop to have the items installed. However, I think it would be nice to be able to see Bob's inventory. Bob's shop isn't very large, so there isn't a lot of room to display inventory. An online inventory would allow customers to "browse" a little easier.
