In August 1991, Cherry Ray, a yoga teacher trained through the International Yoga Teachers Association (IYTA) held a yoga day.  At the yoga day the idea of forming a group to promote yoga was conceived - resulting in the first 25 financial members of FinY.  In 1995 the group became incorporated.  Membership continues to grow, and attracts men and women from all walks of life who love yoga, and enjoy the company of like-minded people.
