formica:
readymade garments retail shop
- ashish mayer

Formica laminates were to be used to design the Interior space of
18' X 18' X 18'. Participated in this students' competition in the year 1994.

'Bhookamp' - A garments retail shop was designed as a theme with bhookamp (meaning earthquake in local language) as the medium for applying deconstruction techniques. The space was developed as a basement of a wrecked building in oriental style with the new elements incorporated to give contemporary look. The design involved creative use of show cases, a double sided revolving wardrobe and furniture design.

The colors chosen were specifically light shades to avoid distortion of display items' colors. The centrally located broken pillar and its pedestal (camouflaged trial room) were given red color to generate a focal point.

Note: The entry was awarded the first prize for the year 1994.
