Medway Cadet Week
This competition was held at the Medway Yacht Club in Lower Upnor.
The sailing squad had to make the decision of whether to go to the NSSA Nationals, which were situated at Derwent Reservoir, Northumberland, in 2001, or to go to the Medway Yacht Club Cadet Week 2001.
Looking back, everyone who attended believe that they made the correct decision.
Because it is not such a large event, there were fewer participants, although there were several fleet classes. As Steve Wilson said; "Because there were fewer participants, it was so much easier to socialise. We all got on really well with everybody.".
Because of the fewer number of participants, it gave the sailing squad a better chance of success. The results are up in the
Results section.
There were several activities arranged for the evenings, including two discos and a trip to go on the longest toboggan run in Britain.
There were several races, the majority of which were held in good wind, and all of the courses were set out as to test your sailing to the maximum.
Great fun was had by everybody attended, and this event has already been pencilled in as a potential regatta to go to next year.
Below are some photographs from the week, in addition to those in the
Photos section.
Steve Wilson and Adam Peake receive their prizes for finishing 4th and 5th.

Yes, we even made Vern dress smartly!
It had been a hard day's sailing, surely we are allowed to show it?
We had a greater opportunity to socialise, and this was the result!!
