Natural medicine How would you like to go to someone's birthday party? Someone? Well, someone you don't know. A friend of a friend, if you will. Sound like fun? Better than sitting around by yourself anyway, so of course you're gonna go. *grin* You may not be able to understand what people are saying, but a party is a party, right? Well, it wasn't what I was expecting. It was alot more fun, actually. We were picked up at the train station of this quiet little village near Utrecht and driven deep into the woods to Alex's place. The further we got away from the busy streets, the more I could feel my spirits lifting. The quiet coolness of the forested drives and the cheerful calls of the birds eased my worries and I suddenly felt myself smiling. The party was fun. Just cheese fondue with friends and family it seemed... well, and me of course. *chuckle* A rule was made that whenever someone dropped anything into the fondue he/she had to take off a piece of clothing. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? Strip fondue! What I found even funnier, though, was the rule-maker ended up being the only person dropping things in the fondue, and then didn't want to follow his own rules. What a disappointment. *grin* The next day saw me with my skates on. I lugged them all the way from Delft, dangling off my backpack, bumping into a few people and annoying them to death on the crowded trains, I'm sure. The weather wasn't great and the roads were still a bit damp, but Marnix was brave enough to try inline skating for the first time, so off we went. I think we were gone for about an hour, I honestly didn't keep track of the time. It was incredibly fun. And it must have shown - Marnix said I was glowing. *chuckle* I guess when I have fun, everyone knows it! We made it back to Alex's place in one piece. Even my chasing after a guy on a bike didn't end too badly. No, I didn't catch up to him, but hey! I had to slow down for a car and then the paving got a little rough, and... and... I'm sadly out of shape. *grin* Alex and Mike had gone out so Marnix and I stayed behind and played pool in the rec room. He took his skates off, I left mine on. Have you ever played pool with inline skates on? I highly recommend it! I could reach just a little bit farther, and it was so much faster to zip around the table on my skates than it is to walk around. *grin* It's a whole new way to play pool! Today my butt and my inner thighs are killing me. But I'm walking around with a smile on my face, and I can't wait to strap my skates on again! Now to just see if I can find a nice place to skate around in Leeuwarden. And who knows, I may have influenced yet another person to take up inline skating! I should get commission for this or something... *wink* |
