My ass is revolting!
Well, I've gone and done it again! Marnix broke down and bought some inline skates last week. And no, I didn't suggest he do so, I just brought my skates along with me the next time I came to visit. Let me see, I think that makes...5 people I've influenced into buying inline skates.*grin*
We went skating today (the first nice weather day since he bought his skates) to break them in a little, and of course for some exercise. There's nothing quite as pretty as the Delftse Hout (the Delft forest) around here, but there's a nice little path that runs through a quiet neighborhood and past a small park that is pretty nice.
The wind was at our backs today so we were making excellent time. A strong, gusty wind it was too, and Marnix commented on how that would affect us on the way back. *joy* We meant to go further, really, but some construction work was going on that had covered the whole road in dirt so we decided to turn around and start heading back, though we took a small detour through the park. Took a short break in the park as well, to catch our breath, sit on a bench, and soak up some welcome sunshine.
The skate back was something else, though. That strong, gusty wind was blowing RIGHT into our faces, and we took turns in the lead, letting the other person try to hunker down and benefit from the windblock our body created. Hunkering down like those professional speed skaters you see in the olympics definitely helps, but boy does it put a crink in my lower back! Or is it my upper buttocks? I really couldn't say. We were maybe 10 more minutes away from home when I straightened up with a sigh and announced to Marnix, "My ass is revolting!" Quickly adding, "That didn't come out quite as I intended." It's a wonder neither of us fell over on our skates, as tired as we were. *chuckle* We managed to make it home safely; just had to rest one more time on a bench and avoid a pair of overzealous girls on their bikes. *grumble*
What else did I do today? Is that not enough? You don't want to hear me lament about the fact that I can't seem to find a job, do you? Well, if you're reading this, and you know of anyone who is looking for a web designer or web developer, or if you've been looking for one yourself, look no further! Well, look a bit further, at my resume, that is. *Ahem* Otherwise, I helped Inge, who lives upstairs in this house, build a simple little webpage for a school project that she is working on. It was really gratifying that the little things I did to help made her so happy (and a little impressed *buffs her nails*).
Oh! And I finished translating my assigned episodes of Argent Soma and sent them in. Now to just wait until they are all subtitled and posted! The story is really getting good! I can't wait to see how it turns out!
And I guess that's it for today. Funny, I had alot more to say than I had anticipated. Nothing substational, perhaps, but until I get that job it will just have to do.
