It is really Springtime? Well, I thought it was officially supposed to be springtime now, but it hailed at least 3 times today during my trip out to Aalsmeer. Needless to say, the tulips aren't blooming here yet. I got a good look at the fields on my way to Schiphol airport, and although there was one pretty patch with pink, purple, yellow and red flowers, it was only one patch. Otherwise, I saw a bunch of daffodils. Still fun. :) Anyway, I was headed out to Aalsmeer because I had an interview lined up with Endemol Entertainment. Never heard of them? Well don't worry, I hadn't either. It turns out that they are a huge tv producer here in Holland, with well known shows such as "Big Brother" - you have heard of that one, haven't you? Jeroen was kind enough to call up this phone service which tells you how to get there by public transportation. Getting to Aalsmeer turned out to be much easier than I had expected, but it was hailing when we drove by the studio, so I missed it completely, and of course the bus driver didn't remember where I wanted to get off. So I ended up somewhere in the heart of Aalsmeer, peering at my little printout map and wondering where in the world I was. Hmm.. but this was originally supposed to be about the weather, wasn't it? Never mind, it's my page and I'll go off topic if I want to. *grin* The sun was shining by the time I was heading toward Leeuwarden, though. I shared some space with a German photographer who was traveling to Leeuwarden to take some pictures before he headed back to Germany. He and I both agreed that Holland was a pretty country. "Very green," as he put it. And, as if in thanks for the compliment, we suddenly saw a rainbow shining over those green pastures. When the sun is shining and the skies are blue, I truly find Holland beautiful. The rest of the time? I think it's cold and wet. *Grin* I got to Leeuwarden after what seemed like a 30 minute delay in Zwolle (and speaking of delays, no, I never heard back from the NS Train people about giving me my money back. Ruud! guess you didn't complain very well. *chuckle*), called Marnix, and was promptly hailed upon as we left the station. Ah... Holland. What? Oh, the interview? Well, I'll let you know when I hear anything for sure, ok? *wink* |
