| At the beginning of the 2nd year I noticed a few signs around the campus asking for people who wanted to get involved with a new University radio station. I went along to a the first meeting and from there the station grew from strength to strength. After much wrangling the name Fuse Fm was decided on and the equipment purchased. I was trained as one of the legendary technical team who were always present in and around the studio, generally getting very little sleep. |
| The first broadcast was just two weeks long but was fantastic. There was a great enthusiasm about the the whole thing and everybody did really well producing some great shows. As well as my producer/techy role I also took part in our very own radio show called The Lounge and from this very early Sunday morning show our love for presenting simply grew. We have now had shows on all of the following broadcasts and I have continued my association with the station after graduation. We have had shows at both Breakfast and Drive-Time, preferring the evening slot because we don't have to get up so early. We think we're pretty good and we can't be that bad because they keep letting us come back. Perhaps the highlight was when we managed to get Chesney Hawkes to appear on one show. Whilst not the biggest star he is a club trop favourite and the show actually got people listening to us who we didn't know! For one afternoon we were radio celebrities. The link at the top of the page is to the Fuse Fm home page where you can learn more about the station and find out when it's next on air. |
