Revision
Tips
|
|
We
all learn in different ways (learning styles) but these
simple tips will help get you started with your
revision.
- Short intensive spurts of revision
are better than prolonged slogging.
- Individual topics should be studied then practised
in order to gain full understanding.
- Past examination papers are a vitally important
part of the revision process and should be marked by a
subject tutor. DO NOT complete whole papers in one
sitting. Do sections at a time on selected topics.
- Set aside specific times and a place to work.
Refuse to be interrupted.
- Use all resources possible; seek assistance and
support from anyone who may be able to help you.
- Organise your files and books, break your work up
into manageable sections and work systematically. Seek
advice about this if necessary from your teachers or
tutor.
- Do something enjoyable between sessions of
revision. Revise whenever you feel like it, but plan
your times ahead. Some of us work best in the morning,
some prefer the afternoon and others the evening. Make
sure that you make plans that suit you.
- Use tape recorders, notes, past papers even a
blackboard and enlist help from friends and family to
'test' you.
- Eat and sleep well. You will not do any better if
you are hungry or tired.
- Be careful to work on all areas, not just the ones
you know and like! It's so easy to ignore the
'horrible bits' or the bits 'you're not good at' and
they often crop up in the exams. Don't take any
chances.
- If your mind starts drifting - stop - take a
break.
-
Don't panic, don't worry -
JUST DO YOUR BEST
.
