Part 21

Shawnie had laid out ten pictures from her parents wreck and after two hours of waiting she picks up the phone and called Josh and told him to come over.    Shawnie was waiting for Josh in her room when he arrived. When Josh walked into her room Shawnie was sitting on her window seat staring at him. He started to walk over to her when she said "I want you to look at the pictures on the table."
Josh walked over to the table and said "What is this?"
"What does it look like?" she asked,
"It looks like a wreck a very bad wreck." he said
"Well you are right it is a very bad wreck. Do you know whose that wreck is?" she asked him.
Josh stared at the pictures and finally said "Oh my god Shawnie I completely forgot. I am so so sorry."
He started walking toward her and she stopped him and said "No, I think we are moving so fast. I mean we got engaged after two weeks of going out. I think we need to slow way down and just date before we get married okay. "
Josh looked at her in disbelief and finally said "I can't belive this. I thought we were doing fine."
"Josh don't make me do this." she said with a tear sliding down her cheek.
"Do what? Don't make you do what?" he said to her as he grabbed her hands.
She pulled away from him and said "Josh, I'm giving you the ring back. I just want to be your girlfriend right now nor your wife."
"What? You are giving the ring back. I don't want to get married tomorrow." he yelled at her.
"Don't yell at me. This is the best for the both of us and you know that Josh. Just take the ring and go. I'll call you later okay." she said to him as handed him the ring.
"No, I don't want it. Keep it I got it for you and I want you to keep. I will leave now, but just keep the ring please Shawn." he said pushing her hand away.
Josh walked slowly out of her room, she waited until he had left before she walked over to her window seat and sat down and started crying.   Skeet walked and said "Shawn, are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine. I just want to be left alone right now." she whispered to him.
Skeet walked back out of the room and left her alone.   She brought her legs up to her chin and wrapped her arms around them and fell asleep with the wind blowing on her face.
Skeet walked by her room and seen that she was asleep so he picked her up and carried her over to her bed and tucked her in. Shawnie didn't even wake up when she was moved.    As Skeet turned out the lights the phone started ringing. He ran to his bedroom to answer it before it woke Shawnie up.
"Hello!" he answered.
"Skeet this is Josh. Can I please talk to Shawnie." he asked him.
"Josh, she is asleep. I don't want to wake her. I will tell her that you called thou." Skeet said to Josh.
"Will you at least tell her that I will be there in an hour? We have to talk." Josh asked.
After Skeet hung up the phone he went up and checked on Shawnie. When he walked in her room she wasn't in bed. He walked over to the bathroom and listened and heard the water running. He knocked on the door and said "Shawn are in there?"
"Yes, Why?" she yelled behind the door.
"I was just checking. Josh said he will be here in an hour. He said that you two need to talk." he yelled into the door.
"Okay thanks." she yelled back.
Skeet left the room and went downstairs. He walked by the front door to go into the kitchen. He looked out and saw Josh pull in the drive. He opened the door and walked down to meet him. Josh pulled up to him and said "I'm early. Is she still sleeping?"
"No she is taking a shower." Skeet said to him
"Okay I will go up and wait for her then." Josh said as he was getting out of his truck.
"I don't think that is a good idea Josh. I think you should wait downstairs and she will come down when she is ready to come down." Skeet said as he grabbed his arm.
"Skeet take you hand off of me. Shawnie will want me to wait in her room." he said to Skeet.
As Skeet removed his hand Josh took off running into the house. By the time Skeet got to the house Josh was already up the stairs, yelling "Shawnie."
Josh rushed into her room and almost knocked her down. Shawnie had to hold on to her dresser so she wouldn't fall. When she got her balance she looked up and said "Josh what the hell are you doing here?"
"I had to come over early I really need to talk to you." he said to her
"Okay Josh start talking because I don't have all night." she said to him while grabbing clothes.
He walked over to her and led her back to the bed and said "Shawnie I don't want to lose you. I love you more than anything."
"I love you too Josh, but we need to slow way down." she said to him.
"Please let me finish before you say anything." he said to her.
   "Okay" she said
"I think we should get married right now but I also agree that we need to slow down, so that is why I am willing to make a compromise. I am willing to slow down and just be girlfriend and boyfriend. Only on one conditon." he said
"What is that?' she asked
"I move in here and live with you." Josh said smiling.
Shawnie just looked at him with a stuned look on her face. She started to say something when Josh put his finger over her mouth and said "Just think about it, before you say anything."
When Josh let his finger drop Shawnie said "Josh, I don't think that is a good idea."
"Why not? I am so in love with you." Josh said raising his voice.
"Well for one thing that would be moving to fast and we need time away from each other. Josh I understand where you going with this. I still love you and this is hard for me, but you need to realize that I need time away." she said with a tear sliding down her cheeck.
"Shawn, why are you pushing me away?" Josh said as he grabbed her hands.
"I'm not pushing you away Josh. You have to realize that I lost my parents from a car accident and I don't want to lose anyone else that way. It took me a really long time to get over the fact that they are gone and I don't want to do it again." she said pulling away from him.
"Oh my gosh Shawnie I am so sorry. I wasn't even thinking. I was so mad that I didn't realize that I was hurting you." Josh said to her.
"That is just it Josh you were thinking about yourself and not me. That is why we need to slow down big time, and you moving in here will not solve anything. It will make things worse."
