After Shawnie and Josh talked to Grant they went up to her room so she could change and take a shower. Josh waited for her to come out of the bathroom. When she walked out he was down on his knee with a ring. He held it up to her and said "Shawnie will you marry me?"
Shawnie started crying and said "Yes."
Josh put the ring on her finger. She leaned down and gave him a very passionate kiss. When they broke from the kiss she was looking at the ring and said "When did you get this?"
"I got it the day we went shopping. Skeet helped me pick it out."
"Skeet helped you. That little brat is going to die."
They started laughing. Josh picked her up and said "Let's go out and celebrate."
"Okay where are we going?" she asked.
"I'll let you pick." he said.
"Let's go to Merritt Island and watch the shuttle launch." she said.
"Let's go. I have a cousin that lives there close to the launch pad." he said.
Shawnie got dressed and was ready to walk out the door when she stopped and said "I love you so much."
"I love you to. I couldn't imanging spending my life with anyone else." he said to her as he gave her a kiss.
   When they were walking out the door Skeet stopped them and asked them "Where are you off too?"
"We are going to Merritt Island and are going to watch a shuttle launch. Why?" Shawnie said to him.
"I was just wondering thats all. I just wanted to congratulate you both on your engagment." he said smiling.
"How did you know that we were engaged?" she asked.
Skeet looked down at her hand and said "That big rock on your finger gave me pretty good idea."
Shawnie lifted her hand and started laughing and said "You and me have a little thing to settle now don't we Skeet."
He started laughing and said "I guess we do. Hey I told you man that I shouldn't have helped you because now she is going to kill me for not telling her."
Josh started laughing and said "Sorry but I need your help. I will make sure she won't hurt you to bad."
Skeet grined and said "Get out of here and have a good time."
Shawnie and Josh turned and left.   Josh started to get in his truck when she jiggled her keys and said "You can drive my car if you want."
Josh grabbed the keys and said "Yes we can take your car."
Shawnie started laughing and got in her car. Josh hoped in with out opening the door.   When he backed out he stopped and leaned over and gave Shawnie a kiss.   When he was done she looked at him smiling and said "We better go or we won't get there in time for the launch."
He started laughing and started to head for Merritt Island which was just the next county.    Shawnie turned on the radio and her favorite song was playing she turned the radio up really loud and started singing along with it. Josh was smiling and started laughing.
    When they arrived at Merrit Island, Josh drove straight to his cousins house. When he parked the car in the driveway his cousins wife greeted them with a smile and a wave. Josh gave her a hug and kiss on the cheeck. He grabbed for Shawnie's hand and said "Laura I would like you to meet Shawnie. Shawnie this is Laura."
"It good to meet you Laura." Shawnie said to her.
"Same here. So what brings you two here to watch the shuttle launch." Laura asked them.
Josh and Shawnie looked at each other and smiled. Josh grabbed Shawnie's hand and said "We just got engaged."
Laura didn't smile or even congratulate them. Josh looked at her and said "Well I know how the family will be at the wedding now?"
"I'm sorry Josh, but I think that you are just making a big mistake. You both are to young, I just can't be happy for something that I think is just wrong. You have all you life to get married do mess it up by getting married young." Laura said to them.
Josh looked at her and grabbed Shawnie's hand and started walking towards her car. Laura grabbed his arm and said "Don't leave enjoy to launch and don't let me ruin this for you."
"You already have Laura. Of all people I just thought you would understand. You were married a lot younger than I am right now. Just forget it. Come on Shawn let go some where else." Josh said to her.
Shawnie turned around and said "It was really nice to meet you Laura."
Josh pulled at her and opened to car door for her.   When Shawnie got in he about slammed the door on her foot.   Shawnie looked at him as he walk around to the driverside.   Josh got in the car and peeled out of the drive way. He was speeding so fast that he almost hit a car. Shawnie looked at him and said "JOSH PULLED OVER THE CAR NOW." He just kept on driving. Shawnie finally yelled "Josh pull over my god damn car now." Josh looked at her and slowed down and finally pulled the car over. When he came to a complete stop Shawnie put the car in park and reached over and shut the car off and took the keys.
Josh looked at her as she got out of the car. She walked over to the driver side and said "Get out of the car now."
"Why? I can drive." he said to her.
"Josh get out of the fucking car now."   she said with out raising her voice.
"Shawnie what is the problem." he asked.
"Nothing sweety just get out of the car. I want to drive now." she said smiling.
Josh finally got out of the car and let her get in, he started walked around the car to the passanger side. He was about to open the door when she drove off with him still standing along the road. She looked in her rearview mirror and seen him running after her yelling her name.
She drove down the road a little ways and then turned around and went back to get him.    He had walked to the mall and was sitting on a bench.   She pulls up beside him and said "We have to talk, but not here. Get in and we will talk when we get home."
Josh got in the car and said "Shawnie......."
Shawnie stopped him and said "Not till we get home."
Josh sat in silence until they got home. When they pulled in the drive, Shawnie shut the car off and got out. She started walking to the house when Josh stopped her and said "Shawnie talk to me."
Shawnie turned around and said "Let's talk later okay. I will call you. You need stay away from me right now."
"What? Shawnie talk to me now!" Josh yelled at her.
"No Josh, you need to stay away from me right now or I will say things that I can't take back, and I don't want that to happen so just leave me alone and I will call you when I'm ready to talk." Shawnie said in a very quite and calm voice.
Josh watched her walk in the house and then got in his truck and left.
Shawnie walked in the house and Skeet looked up and said "How was the launch."
"I don't want to talk about it right now. I'll be in my room if you need anything." she said as she walked up the stairs.
When she got in to her room she shut the door and went straight to her closet and grabbed a box and took it over to her chair in the corner.    She sat the box down on her lap and took a deep breath and opened the lid.    One tear started to slide down her cheek. It was pictures of her parents wreck. She pick up a picture of the car and laid it on the table.   The next picture was of her parents laying on the pavement with sheets over them. She sat it down next to the other one.
