Part 19

Grant walked over and gave her a hug and said "Thank you for including me."
Shawnie hugged him back and said "I'm not stupid you know. I'm not going to go out and get married tomorrow. I'm going to wait until at least I graduate."
Grant looked at her and said "I never said you were stupid. I just didn't want you to mess up your life by getting married while you were still in school."
Shawnie smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek.   She started to go out to the pool when the phone rang. Grant reached over and answered it. She could tell that something was wrong. When he hung up the phone he stared at the counter. She walked over to him and said "What's wrong?"
"Oh nothing. That was my friend the judge and he wants to meet with me today." he said.
"Okay if you don't want to tell me then don't, but if it has to do with us then I want to know." she said to him.
Grant looked at her and said "No, this has nothing to do with you. I promise. This is about me."
Shawnie looked him in the eyes and said "Tell me what's wrong."
Grant looked at her and said "I can't. It's a case I was working on before I left to come her and it is confidental."
Shawnie threw up her hands and turned and walked away. She was about to open the door and said "For you being a big time lawyer you really suck at lying. I can see right threw you."
She then went to the pool.   Grant followed her out and grabbed her arm and said "Why do you say that?"
"Ouch you are hurting my arm." she said to him,but he never let up his grip.
"Why do you say that Shawnie?" he asked again.
"Grant you are the worst liar I know. You are trying to protect us, but this time it isn't working and you don't know what to do. I don't buy that it is a case that you were working on. I'm not stupid." she snapped back.
"Well you don't know everything missy. You are just a spoiled rich brat that got all of her money from her dead parents." he growled at her.
Shawnie stared at him and said "Take you freaking hand off of my arm or else."
"Or else what?"   he said to her.
Shawnie grabbed him other hand, turned and flipped him over her shoulder and said "That asshole! Don't you ever lay your hands on me again."
He looked up at her in a daze. He couldn't find any words. He couldn't believe what she had done to him.   After that she turned and walked to the pool. When he finally got up he walked over to Shawnie and said "How did you learn that?"
"That is none of your business." She said glaring at him.
"No seriously where did you learn that?" he asked her.
"I take a self defense class. Why do you ask?" she said.
"I was shooked that you knew how to do that, that's all." he said.
"Why because a spoiled rich brat that is only five two could take down an asshole that is six three with such force." she said.
"Yes, and I guess I deserved being called an asshole." he said to her.
"Well you are. I just get my money from my parents dying. Me and Skeet work our asses off just keep their money.   There is a lot that you don't know about us. There are something that you don't want to know about us either. I hate being call a rich brat that is spoiled. I have to have parents to spoil me. Everyone thinks that I'm a bitch, but I'm not. I'm really shy. Just because I don't talk to someone that I am automacially a bitch." she said.
Grant looked at her and said "I shouldn't have said that. I was angry because you were saying that about me."
"Why it's true? I know when someone is lying to me. I don't like it when someone lies to me." she said.
Grant looked at her and shook his head. She said "If you will excuse me I have to practice. I have finals next week."
"You have finals in the summer time." he asked her.
"Yes, I have finals in the summer. It's finals for the championship." she said to him.
He turned and walked away but stoped and said "When is Josh coming over?"
"He should be here any minute now. Show him to the pool when he get here and don't you dare say anything to him." she warned him.

When Josh arrived Shawnie got out of the pool and kissed him. She grabbed his hand and said "Let's get this talk over with Grant okay."
He followed her into the den. Grant looked up and said "What do I owe this honor for?"
"Shut up and listen okay." she snapped at him.
Josh looked at her with a weird look but didn't say anything.
Grant raised his hands and motioned her to go on. Shawnie cleared her throat and started in by saying "We love each other very much. We are going to get married after a year of college. We can live in this house and you are going to walk me down the aisle."
Grant looked at her and smiled and said "Where are you going to school at?"
"I'm going to the Univeristy here and Josh is going to the community college." she said.
"What are you going to be majoring in?" he asked.
"Well I'm majoring in pre med and he is............" she said looking at Josh.
"Oh I'm majoring in english lit." he said.
Grant looked at both of them and said "What are you both going to do for room and board."
"We are going to stay here. Anything else." she asked.
"Yes just one more thing." he said
"What?" she said sighing.
"Congratulations. I'm proud of you, but I think that pre med is awful hard why don't you go into pre law." he said.
"I don't want to be a lawyer. I want to be a pediactrtion." she said.
Grant smiled and said "Okay what will happen if you have to move to a different city to find a job."
"I already know that I will have a job here, because I already work here at the hosptial." she said.
Grant smiled again and said "You have it all figured out don't you."
"Yes, I do as a matter of fact." she snapped back.
"Well how do you know that you will have a job when you finish you seven years of college." he asked.
"They told me that if I kepted my grades up, then I would be an intrern here. If you don't believe me call them up and ask them yourself. So if there isn't any more stupid questions can we go know." she snapped.
"Yes, just one more thing. Josh what are you going to do when she's at school all the time." he asked.
Josh looked at Shawnie and then back at Grant and said "I'll be here waiting for her. What else would I be doing?"
"Oh I don't know out with your friends or something. Pre med is a long course to take. She will be gone alot. I didn't know if you would get mad at that or not." he said to Josh.
"I love her and I won't get bored with her not being here. I will wait for her as long as I have to for her to come home. I can still go out with my friends if I want to. It isn't like she is going to another state she is just going about five miles to college. I will help her study if I have to." Josh said to him.
"Okay then why don't you go into pre med also." Grant asked.
"I want to be a writer or a teacher. What's with the fifth degreee?" he asked Grant.
"I just wanted to know how you felt about her that's all." he said to Josh.
