Part 2

Shawnie went to the market for the things she needed before she headed home so her and Skeet could have their family talk that involved everyone in their lives.  She headed for her car when someone bumped her and knocked her sack out of her arms.  She bent down and started to pick them up when she saw who had knocked her sack out of her arms.  She just stared at him in awe.  It was the guy of her dreams.  Well, that was what she thought anyway.  She was so in love with him.  He looked at her and smiled.  She smiled back at him.
"I am so sorry for this.  I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing?"  he said to her.
"Oh that's okay! I wasn't paying attention either.  Don't worry about it." she said to him.
"Here, let me carry them to your car for you."  he told her while he grabbed the sack from her.
"You don't have to do that Josh.  I can carry them,"  regretting it as she said it.
"No, I insisit on it.  Let me do this so I can make it up to you."  he said smiling.
They walked to her car in silence.  She couldn't think of anything to say to him that wouldn't sound stupid.   He finally broke the silence by saying, "Shawnie, would you like to go out to dinner sometime?"
Shawnie stopped dead in her tracks and said,"What?"
He stopped just ahead of her and said, "Would you like to go out to dinner sometime?"
"I would like that, Josh, but I might not be here for very long."  she said with disappoinment.
"That's okay!  We can do it before you leave.  Why are you leaving if you don't mind me asking?"  he asked, sounding hurt.
"It's a long story.  Maybe I will tell you sometime soon."  she told him.
"Great then I will pick you up at seven tonight then."  he told her with a smile.
"Tonight,  that would be great."  she told him while she gave him a hug.
She hugged him for the longest time just breathing in his scent.    When she pulled away she looked at him and said, "I thought you were at the lake with your parents on vacation."
"I didn't go.   We will talk later on tonight.  Bye Shawnie ."  he said to her
"Bye Josh.  Thanks for carrying my groceries to the car for me."  she said to him.
"Hey no problem."  he smiled at her.
He waited for her to get in her car and leave before he moved.  On her way home, all she thought about was Josh.  She had completely forgot about calling Drea and telling her to bring Skeet home.  When she pulled in the driveway she saw Drea's car and remembered.  Her smiled faded as she walked inside.  Skeet and Drea were sitting on the couch watching TV.  Shawnie walked over and turned it off and sat down on the coffee table and said, "We have a major problem"
"What is that?"  Skeet asked with concern.
"Grandma and Grandpa  are selling our house and we have to move to Iowa."  she told him with her head down.
"You have got to be joking.  Mom and Dad gave the house to us in their will so we have every right to stay here as long as we want."  he said raising his voice.
"I'm not joking.  They are our guardians because we aren't eighteen yet, so we have to do what they say.  Our hands are tied Pinky. "  she said to him with her head down.
Skeet stood up and walked over to the window.  Drea went up behind him and put her arms around him.
"I'm going to read over the papers again to see if there was anything that John didn't find."  Shawnie said as she walked up the stairs to her room.
"Hey Shawnie, my cousin is in town.  He is a big time lawyer from Chicago, so maybe he can look at them for you."  Drea said to her.
"That would be great Dre, could you get a hold of him right now."  she asked.
Drea went over to the phone and called.  Skeet was still looking out the window.  He had been very quiet after what was said.  Drea didn't know what to do.
"Skeet, I just want you to know that I will still love you even if you move."  Drea said to him trying to hold back her tears.
Skeet still didn't answer her.  Drea knew that he had a lot on his mind, so she didn't push him into saying anything.  Shawnie came downstairs with a smile on her face and said, "You are never going to believe this."
She waited for Skeet to answer her, but when he didn't, she continued to talk by saying, "I think a found a way to stay here after all."
Drea beamed and said, "What's that?"
"Well I'm not for sure but I think we don't need a guardian because when mom and dad died they left us the house in the will, right?"
Skeet turned around and said, "Yeah so."
"Well they died when were fifteen and we have stayed here for two years by ourselves.  So why now are grandma and grandpa making us move now?  It doesn't make sense.  The way I look at it, is that it isn't them at all." she said.
"Well, who could it be then?"  Skeet asked
"I don't know that but, there is only one way to find out.  Call Grandma."  She said
"Well do it then."  he told her tossing her the phone.
"I already tried but they weren't home.  I left a message on their machine for them to call me back."
They were interupted by a knock on the door.  Drea looked at the door and said, "That is my cousin."
Shawnie answered it and they all went into the den to go over the papers.  They had their heads buried in the papers that they forgot what time it was until there was a knock on the door.  Drea didn't want to disturb them so she answered it for them.  She walked back into the den and said "Shawn, it's Josh."
Shawnie looked at her watch and said, "Oh shit.  Tell him that I will be right there."
Drea left to tell him while Shawnie took the back way upstairs to change.   Drea led Josh into the den so he could sit down.  While he was sitting down she went upstairs to talk to Shawnie.   When Drea got upstairs Shawnie was in her closet trying to find an outfit to wear.  Shawnie didn't hear Drea come in and sit down on her bed.  When she turned around, she jumped.
"Oh gosh you scared the hell out of me."
"Sorry, I just wanted to know when you and Josh were an item."
"We aren't an item, YET.  He knocked my sack out of my hands today and offered to take me out to dinner tonight to make it up to me."  Shawnie said smiling.
"Oh! I was wondering what had happened."  Drea said smiling
"So tell me what he is wearing.  Does he look good?"  Shawnie asked.
"Yes he looks good, He is wearing dockers and a white shirt." Drea said with a smile.
Shawnie held a knee lenth dress up to her and said, "Will this do for tonight?"
"I think that will do!"  Drea said laughing as she left the room.
Shawnie started getting dressed.  She sat down at her vanity to do her make-up when something came to her about who could be doing this to her and her brother.  After she finished her make-up and hair she grabbed her purse and headed up to the attic.  She went over to the trunk where her parents had keep all of their important papers.  She found what she was looking for.  Their Will.  She grabbed it and ran downstairs to the den yelling "I think I found what we all are looking for."
She threw the will down on the table and said, "This will answer all of the questions."
Drea's cousin started looking at it.  Shawnie looked at Josh and said, "Sorry I lost track of time.  I hope you weren't waiting long."
"No not at all.  If you have things that needs to be done we can go out some other time."  Josh said to her....
