We now have two free patterns available.
1. The basic poncho, available here as a .pdf,

  and
2. The Confetti Scarf, which is available onscreen here.

This pattern is actually Barbara's (but you probably guessed that, it's not Fran's style).

I used Paton's Evita in colour Tango. It's 100% nylon. The label says 14st/20rows over 10cm using 6mm needles (US 10).

Materials:
I ball Evita (or yarn of your choice)
1 set of US 13 needles

Special note: You need to knit this very loosely in order to be able to do the k2tog's.

k= knit
k2tog= k 2 stitches together
yo= yarn over
st(s)= stitch(es)

Very loosely, cast on an even number of sts. I used 10 and got a 68" long scarf.
Rows 1 & 2: yo, k2tog across
Rows 3, 4, 5:knit across

That's all there is to it. Repeat those 5 rows until you run out of yarn (or get bored, which ever comes first), leaving enough to bind off very loosely.
