About St. Augustine
The city of St. Augustine, Florida is the oldest continuously occupied European settlement in the United States.  It was founded by the Spanish in 1565, 42 years before the English colonized Jamestown and 55 years before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock.
In the late 19th century, oil baron Henry Flagler turned St. Augustine into a winter playground for the rich and famous.  Resort hotels sprang up, including the Ponce de Leon, which is now Flagler College; the Casa Monica, which is a hotel today; and the Hotel Alcazar, which now houses the fascinating Lightner Museum.
Why St. Augustine?

We are asked frequently why we want to have our wedding in St. Augustine.  First, just by seeing these pictures you can tell what a beautiful and romantic city it is and therefore, what a perfect place for a wedding.  Second, because Mark attended Flagler College and always wanted to get married at the Cathedral-Basilica.  Third, because so many of our friends and relatives are scattered across the country and will have to travel a long way to attend our wedding, why not have them travel someplace interesting?  And finally, because we both love the city and its ambiance.  It has a special place in our hearts.
Nights of Lights

During our wedding, St. Augustine's annual
Nights of Lights celebration will be occuring.  The entire city is lit up with millions of tiny white Christmas lights.  We hope you will enjoy this beautiful event.
