Welcome Everyone!!!!

This is my page dedicated to the Demolition Derby 2002! This year I am putting pics of how the car looks when I bought it. Then I will put pics of how the car is progressing. Then pics of how it looks when it is completely finished. So I hope you enjoy the pics and come back to see if I post new ones of what the car looks like at that time. This year, I have a 1980 Chevy Caprice classic 4 door. My family and I went about 70 miles to Milledgeville to get the car. It has a 305 engine in it just like last year. Most of the painting done on the car will probably be by me. But I might have a sponsor from a car detailing shop so they might do it. I'll keep you all informed. I also hope to borrow my grandma's digital cam throughout this whole time to bring you the pics as soon as I take them. So, have fun reading and looking at the pics! And don't forget to stop by again and again to see if the car has new paint added to it!

George Sims - Dual Demolition Derby - Bureau County Speedway

Here are the first 3 pictures. This is how it looked when I picked it up. The date for the pics is May 19, 2002. Last year I couldn't remember what the color of the car was, but as you can see, this year's car is brown. But it definitely isn't gonna stay that way! lol I hope you all like the thumbnails I'm using this time. If not, I'll take them off. Just click on the pics to see the bigger picture. I just know I'll have lots of pics and didn't think you all would want to wait for them to load.

These are the 6 pictures of it starting to be painted. The date for these pics is May 23, 2002. It still needs more painting done to it. The car is gonna be half-n-half. The left side will be black and the right side will be blue. There is a "slant" on the car which is silver. Behind the silver, the color will be opposite of the front color. The front of the car will have flames on it next. The tires are gonna be painted half-n-half too. So those pics are gonna come up next.

Here are 4 pictures of me painting my own flames. The date for these pics is May 25, 2002. I got an idea from online demo derby friends. The idea was to tape the area where the flames were gonna be drawn. That took me a long time to do. Then draw out the flames. I loved doing that part cuz I think my flames look good. Then use an exacto knife and cut the flames out. That took a long time for me to do too. Then paint the flames whatever you want. In my case, I painted the flames silver (or chrome) on both sides of the car. After i did just the actual "flame" part, I painted the black side (driver side) with blue flames. And I painted the blue side with black flames. So the black and blue colors blend in with the silver. I put a second coat of blue on the back end of it too but it isnt pictured yet. And the tape for the flames isnt off yet. I'm gonna wait until I'm sure I wont need the "stencil" for the flames anymore.

These pictures look so cool. At least they do to me! lol The date for these pics is May 28, 2002. I just found out today that there is a parade on June 1, 2002. So I'm trying to get the painting done cuz I'm going to enter it in the parade. I hope I get pictures of it for you all to see. But about these pics... This is how it looks right now. Probably during the parade pics, there will be my number on the car, the tape taken off the windows, and maybe something on the car for ppl to call to sponsor me. I really love the flames this year since I did a new technique. The chrome lining is off and is now painted on the bottom. Everything should have about 2 coats of paint on it now. I changed the front tire design. I thought there should be some chrome somewhere since the front is Black, Silver, and Blue. I might change the left rear tire too. The pic I like most is the one of the front end. It looks like a beast! lol That also got painted too. Havent decided on the bumper yet. I usually paint it, but these are really cleen bumpers. Hopefully I'll get me some sponsors. Then the next pics will probably be the parade and then how the car looks when it is finally done.

Parade 1 Parade 2 Parade 3
Parade 4 Parade 5 Parade 6
Parade 7 Parade 8 Parade 9
Parade 10

These pictures are from the Annawan parade. As you'll see in the pics, it was raining hard during the parade. I think that is why the pics are blurry. And we (Me, Becky, Aaron, & Kevin) are in back of the truck getting soaked while throwing candy out! lol It was fun though! Got to show the car off to the people that went to the parade. The only sponsors on the car are: Wisenburg Photography, Century21, and Neponset Truck & Tractor Repair. All the windows are still in it. And the posters in the window give our number so that people/business' see the car and want to sponsor me.
