Hi!  I'm Maria, a Transsexual.   native Pittsburgher (Pennsylvania) and now live in Jersey.     I'm STILL a doctoral candidate at a local university hoping to finish soon!  I also live full-time, and hold a professional position.   Physically, I'm 5'11, athletic  build, and passable.  I have a firm committment to Transgender-GLBT  rights as you can see from a few of my links.  In addition, I oppose bigotry in any form.  The next time someone makes a joke about,  Tranz, Gays, Lesbians, African Americans, etc.  Don't let it pass.  It's worth taking a stand...

I like music, mainly electronica, from Frontline Assembly to quiet stuff like Enya.  I despise classic rock.  My other hobbies include reading, playing my keyboards (not as much as I used to...), hunting antiques, and working on my house. I've also started to play percussion again!   It's a large old Victorian.  One of the good things about living in Pittsburgh is the large amount of reasonably priced turn-of-the-century homes.   I also like to bike, mainly rail trails.  Oh, and I have a large circle of friends that I like to socialize with.  I like to nightclub, but I also like to vege-out on the sofa.

'Favorite Bands:  Depeche Mode, Amber, New Order,  Apoptygma Berserk, Crystal Method, Bjork, Propellerheads,VNV Nation,  Frontline Assembly, Lasgo, Xymox John Oakenfold, Bill Death, and Delierium.  I also like Diana Ross & the Supremes and some old Motown.  WRCT occasionally has the best electronica shows.  88.3 FM.  I also like  Madonna, Pet Shop Boys (an all-time favorite), a lot of 80s synth-pop, Hole, and  Trance.  As you can tell, I'm not much into rock and especially the classic trax. Pet Shop Boys "Home & Dry" & Lasgo "Alone" Trance mixes are my current favorite.

Favorite Films:  I love epics and thought Gladiator was great.  Other favs are  the Producers, Silence of the Lambs, Star Wars (all of them), anything (Silence of the Lambs)  with Jodie Foster,  or Catherine Zeta Jones.  Frida.  The African Queen is also amazing.  Dune is another favorite as is Dr. Zhivago.

Favorite Books.  Don't read much non-fiction.  The Alienist by Caleb Carr.  Currently reading  a several books by the Dali Lama at once..   Ellman's bio of Oscar Wilde is my all-time favorite.  Lately, I've been reading a lot of gender theory for obvious reasons.  I also enjoy GLBT history in general.

Favorite Foods: Italian and Middle Eastern.  I'm a vegetarian.  I haven't eaten meat in over 13 years and don't miss it one iota.  I'm really terrible:  fussy and picky when it comes to food.  Don't cook for me--take me out to dinner!!!  .

Favorite Cars.  Jeeps any of them,  (I'm practical).  1970 Mustang Mach I.  Someday maybe a classic 1930s car.  I confess I do like the James Bond little BMWs.  Also, if you are in Pittsburgh, check out Helen Frick's 1930s (massive) Lincoln at the Frick Museum  I'd love to go for a spin.

Houses.  Victorian.  I consider a split entry decorated in earth tones a special kind of Hell.

Animals.  I love them except for reptiles (I wouldn't harm one either), although I just don't want to see it or touch the thing..  People that get animals and then 'get rid' of them especially annoy me.  I've made a lifetime committment to my cat.

Favorite TV show. CNN (I think John King is handsome but also like being up-todate).  I also like MTV's ongoing soap opera "Real World."  Other than that, bad old movies.  "Conan" is a favorite
Secret addictions: Nyquil, cakes--entire cakes-- pizza. I'm a binge eater. Courageous Cat, antique shopping, and the Ali Baba restaurant in Pittsburgh.

Dislikes. Intolerant people;  milk, classic trax (I've mentioned that one before),  uninformed people bore me, hypocrites,  men seeking 'discrete affairs," users, and the hurdles we transsexuals have to go through to get hormones and legitimate jobs.

Other Stuff:
