I got introduced to fairy tales by my mother, who would tell me stories of the real queens, princesses, and royal family of her homeland in Great Britain. To keep me still while she brushed and braided my long hair, she would hold me captive with stories of the leprechauns and fairies and the banshee of Ireland, which was my grandmother's homeland.

My real introduction to literature came at the age of 12 when I first read Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. That sent me on voyage to read the Classics...I don't know if I've read them all, but I've given it a good go! I got hooked on Gothics, mysteries, and suspense when I was a teen, and I think I read a goodly amount. Among my favourite authors of those were: Mary Stewart, Victoria Holt, Daphne DuMaurier; Dorothy Daniels, Moira Coffman, Virginia Coffman, Katharine Wigmore Eyre, Anya Seton, Barbara Michaels, Catherine Cookson, Elsie Lee, Helen McInnes, and Catharine Marchant.

I continue a voracious reader and here's a list of some of my favourites in no particular order: Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier; Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte; Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte; Finding Peggy by Meg Henderson; Jewels by Danielle Steel (yes, even I surprised myself!); Devil Water by Anya Seton; Weedee Peepo by Jose Antonio Burciaga; The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende; Notes From a Small Island by Bill Bryson; Angela's Ashes and 'Tis by Frank McCourt; Grandmother and the Priests by Taylor Caldwell; At Home in France by Ann Barry; A Year in Provence by Peter Mayles; The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence; The Hound of Heaven by Francis Thompson; and so many others. I love a well-written book, particularly a clever one!
