After months of looking, we finally found our perfect home - a 3-bedroom apartment in North Bondi. We had our hearts set on it - but we had to win the auction.
On Thursday 11 May (after a sleepless night before) we arrived at the auction venue. Nicola inadvertantly chose seats amongst the vendor and 12 of her closest friends, including the actor who plays the Dad in The Castle and hosts a home renovation show here. They were all lovely and obviously wanted us to get the home.
As the bidding wound down, the vendor reduced their reserve to our satisfaction (still well short of our maximum budget). Then it was "going once, going twice, third and final call, sold to the gentleman and his pregnant wife" (that's us!)
We settle on Friday 23 June 2006, so will start moving in shortly after. Nicola finishes work on 7 July, and baby is due sometime between 23 July and 6 August. So the timing is perfect! There's no renovation to do - we just need to get some nice furniture to match the decor!
