(OOC: *dances* I'm in a good mood. I had cake ^______^)
TCM checked herself again. All her weapons in place and ready to kill if needed. She had taken another set of handguns and another shotgun.... just in case. She was pretty backed up but then again, this was their last battle after all. They either made it or they died. The only thing she wanted was that everybody made it. She sighed then turned around to face the guys. She nodded silently towards Le' Chuck.
"I'm with you." TCM said and tightened her ponytail. She damned herself one more time for having long hair. It was an obstacle during the combats. But then again it really didn't matter. She walked towards the door and leaned against the wall next to it. Next to her was Phoenix. He looked at her.
"What's wrong?" He asked as he noticed her concentrated look on her face. TCM answered without looking up.
"There is one thing I still don't get... why where the other beasts eating Nightmare up?"

Phoenix looked at TCM, thinking. Why? Did it matter? They'd find out or they wouldn't at this point, right? But, what if it was important? What if they needed the answer? He didn't know, and wouldn't pretend.
"I have no idea," he said, " and I don't really care anymore. I just want all of us out of this Hell, and Damien's blood on my hands."
He checked his assortment of weapons - a "compact" rocket launcher, a six-shot grenade launcher, a heavy assault rifle, a flamethrower, and a new sword. It all weighed heavily on his body, but they wouldn't be going very far before he would have to drop some of them. He thought over Le'Chuck's plan, knowing it was full of holes, and trying to think of a way around them. Suddenly, a thought occurred to him.
"I've got an idea," he announced, "How about if we try a flanking plan?" The others looked at him curiously, so he continued, "The monsters are arranged in a circle around the water, and we can't even begin to beat them all right? Here's what I'm thinking: I'll draw some of them out by hitting them from long range with this rocket launcher of mine, hopefully killing off or weakening a few of them. I'll keep shooting until they get a little too close, then I'll switch to this grenade launcher, then to this flamethrower. At that point, the rest of you all hit them from behind or the sides. We trap them in a pincer attack, and crush them from all sides. They won't know what hit them."
"Just you? On your own?" TCM asked.
"Well, yeah. If worse comes to worse, I can try and activate my red aura. I'll be fine. Besides, this last run is dangerous. If I'm the target for their long range stuff, then none of you will be in danger. I don't want any of you," he looked pointedly at TCM, "getting hurt if I can help it. This way, I'm the only one they can get." He paused, waiting for feedback, or, preferably, some suggestions on how to make this plan of his better. --- If the sun rises tomorrow, it is only through the will of good men, for they are all that stand between us and the devil. | | From: GUYBRUSH THREEP00D | Posted: 1/22/2002 12:01:19 PM | Message Detail |

*Le'Chuck listened to the whole plan... and finally spoke up when it was finished...*
Le'Chuck: You're not doing it alone... One of us should go with you... There will be too many of them for you to get through... I've already checked the maps... There is too many even if we did that... There is no way only one person could survive against so many of them... Any of us... Except perhaps M... No... Anyways... Choose someone to go with you...
*Le'Chuck looks a bit depressed... But grabs two twin daggers off the floor that he sees that the other weapons have uncovered... and then looks towards the group...*
Le'Chuck: Light... Nice... Anyways... Choose... and then we'll be on our way... For there is no way I'm letting you leave here currently on a suicide mission... So choose someone... And if noone accepts... I will go...

Phoenix listened to Le'Chuck's idea, and decided that his ally was right. As much as he wanted to do this alone, he couldn't. It would be impossible, and would put all of them in serious jeopardy. He had known this before he had suggested the plan, but he had tried to ignore it.
Who to take? KoN had that railgun, which was some serious firepower, but was it better for the initial attack, when the two attackers would be hard-pressed to hit anything, or the flanking maneuver, when the beasts would be confused, jumbled, and more vulnerable? No, KoN was out. His weapon would be better suited for the flanking maneuver. He would have more time to aim. Besides, his body-snatching ability would be extremely useful to further confuse the monsters. He wouldn't be able to do that if he was under attack.
Le'Chuck was out too. His magic was very powerful, but in limited supply, and excessive use of it would weaken the three-headed monkey to the point of exhaustion. Much as he hated to admit it, Phoenix couldn't afford to have a dead-tired three-headed monkey watching his back.
That left MadKatt and TCM. MadKatt had the Dragon Pistol, a very powerful advantage for all of them, capable of decimating and severely harming anything in the blast radius. Phoenix was counting on that for the flanking maneuver. If MadKatt attacked from the side, he could practically wipe out the entire middle of the enemy charge in one shot. If he was part of the initial attack, it could present a problem later in the attack.
Son of a...I'm no leader, I don't know anything about planning for war. Why are they turning to me for these decisions? Why did I say anything at all? Man...
Phoenix turned to TCM and made his decision.

TCM looked up at him surprised. She blinked a few times before she answered.
"Me?" She asked as if he could have meant anybody else in the room. He nodded and looked at her steadily. TCM smiled at him.
"Sure I will." She said quietly but firmly. This could be their last fight. A frightening thought, but she would rather die next to him than alone. Sure she was going to cover him.
"Who better than me to cover you?" TCM said to him more privately and was happy to see him smile. She turned around and stepped to stand in the door. Her other Shotgun resting on her shoulder, her left hand on her hip.
"Well then gentlemen it's settled. I'll cover Phoenix while you handle the flanking maneuver. If everyone is okay with it lets go." TCM said and awaited answers. She was excited to death. This was it. This was the fight that either saved them or would bring them to doom.

"I'm ready," Phoenix said. He turned to the three flankers and said, "You guys find a place to get ready. When I start using my flamethrower, head into the fray. We'll be waiting." He turned to TCM, "Let's go."
The two of them left the station and began what could be the final walk to their destination. A phrase popped into Phoenix's head unbidden.
Dead couple walking.
Wonderful. I love morbid thoughts.
"Do you think we can pull this off?" TCM asked him after about five minutes of walking.
"I don't know," he replied after a moment's consideration, "Maybe. We have enough firepower to take on an army, but Damien," his blood boiled slightly, "has enough monsters to simply run us down if he realizes what's going on. I think our chance is mostly hinged on luck."
"So we might not make it?"
"No. We might not." --- If the sun rises tomorrow, it is only through the will of good men, for they are all that stand between us and the devil. | | From: MadKatt15 | Posted: 1/22/2002 7:52:02 PM | Message Detail |
MadKatt thought it over some. He wasn't much of a leader, so this plan was as good as any to him. But the thought of two of his friends going up against this whole army like that....
No. They were all together in this, watching each other's backs no matter where they were. This plan has to work- Will work! We'll make sure of that.
Phoenix turned to him. "MadKatt, when the army gets into a tight enough group you fire the Dragon Pistol. It's your call on when to fire though. Make it a good shot."
MK nodded. He already knew that that was what he needed to do, but have some reassurance was good. "You can count on me." He replied with a smirk. One shot, make it as destructive as possible... A simple task, yet he was hoping his judgement was good enough to know when. Think about it when the time comes. Keep focused for now.
"I'm ready. You guys find a place to get ready. When I start using my flamethrower, head into the fray. We'll be waiting." Phoenix said. This was it. They were heading out into the toughest battle of their lives. Demons of all shapes and sizes were going to be there, ready to rip them into nothing.

*Le'Chuck sighed... A few unknown thoughts... several known... He hated it...*
Le'Chuck: I know my part... We'll all make it... None shall die... None...
*He looked towards MK and KoN...*
Le'Chuck: Well... MK... You'll wait on the side... Waiting to fire that pistol... Myself and KoN will be stationed back behind the other monsters... waiting until you fire that thing off... When you do... We'll begin attacking...
Le'Chuck: KoN... I want you to take over the body of a POWERFUL monster... Try to stay out of MK's shot... I'll see if I can relay your psychic coordnates to MK... Of course... He won't be able to understand that... So I'll just relay to him where you are from MK's position... When he does shoot turn on all the monsters and start annilating them... When they start fighting back and you don't stand a chance anymore... Switch bodies... Do this often... That should cause internal confusion... After a bit of this come back to your body...
Le'Chuck: Oh and myself... I'll be sending waves of spells and energy at them... which should be enough to hold them off... Plus distract them from you two... I'll alert you KoN when I begin to run out of Energy... Which will cause me to try out these new daggers...
Le'Chuck: One little thing MK... When you do fire that thing... Run to KoN's body and myself... Seeing as how some of those monsters might run after you when you shoot that pistol... From there we'll fight our way to the ship... The monsters should be confused enough by then anyways to the point where we'll meet minimal resistance...

Before too long, Phoenix and TCM arrived at a point overlooking the writhing mass of beasts. Beyond, they could see the water and the boats, and, just barely inside their vision, they could see the Island of Light, their final destination in this Hell.
Phoenix just prayed they would make it there.
"You ready?" he asked TCM as he lifted his rocket launcher to his shoulder. She nodded, and suddenly, there were no words left to say. He looked at the digital readout on his weapon as the guidance system showed him where the high-explosive warhead would hit. He took careful aim at the middle of the nearest monster group, took a deep breath, and left it out.
"There's no turning back now, is there?" TCM asked suddenly. He didn't move, his finger millimeters from the trigger.
"There never was."
He pulled, and the rocket flew at top speed towards the monsters. --- If the sun rises tomorrow, it is only through the will of good men, for they are all that stand between us and the devil. | | From: the cookie monster | Posted: 1/22/2002 9:44:37 PM | Message Detail |
(OOC: ...........deep............)
TCM watched silently as the rocket flew by and landed in the horde of monsters. It was an awkward sensation, feeling the ground rumble and the air fill with roars. It felt all so unreal. As if it was a dream. It made her feel sad. She couldn't understand why, but she felt sad. So unreal..... as if in a dream..... She thought and everything went dull. It was as if she was deaf out of the sudden. She could see what was happening. She could see the monsters coming closer. She could see the water, the boats, the island...... so unreal....... as if in a dream....... And then she was suddenly pulled down.
"Get down!" TCM heard someone yell as she was pulled to her knees. Her head was pushed down towards the ground, an arm covering her. She heard the rocket fly by, she heard it crash close behind them, she felt the tremble on the ground.
"What's the matter with you?!?" TCM heard Phoenix yell at her. His face a mixture between angry and concerned. TCM blinked. She didn't know what to do. She opened her mouth to say something but..... she never found the right words. Phoenix sighed.
"I should have known..... don't move, I'll protect you....." Phoenix said and looked at her strangely, a weak smile on his lips. Again that look. Fear was there too. ....Fear? Phoenix stood up and took out his Flamethrower. The horde of Demons almost over them now. ........"don't move, I'll protect you........"
"..........I'll protect you........" TCM whispered to herself and smiled. Yeah, who better than me...... She suddenly stood up a smirk on her face. As she did so she took out her Katana and made a 180º turn, slicing the beasts in half. She could see Phoenix stop for about a second to watch her amazed but relieved. TCM was giving her best performance. It was as if she was caught in some sort of frenzy. She didn't know, or care. It seemed as if she wasn't the one controlling her body. Yet it felled familiar. She was fighting the way she used to when they started the game. There was a goal now. There was a reason. There was a mission. TCM cleared the spot using on one side her Shotgun on the other side her Katana. They weren't surrounded anymore and had instead only a straight line of monsters coming towards them. It almost seemed too easy. She stood next to Phoenix who was awaiting the next massive attack. He cast a quick glance towards her.
"What happened?" He asked, not sure himself if he meant now or before. TCM smiled dangerously as she took out her other Shotgun.
"I'm covering you, remember?" She answered and started another fire as another horde arrived. Sounds of fighting was heard on a another side. The other had arrived and were doing their job. And they were doing it fine. Phoenix chuckled softly at her answer.
"You are insane you know that do you?" He asked half seriously half playfully, almost yelling over the noise surrounding them.
"I know."

Phoenix watched TCM fight out of the corner of his eye as he prepared his flamethrower. There was something about the way she was fighting, something familiar, although he couldn't really tell what it was at first.
There was no time to think now, though. The monsters were being cut down left, right and center, yet there so many of them that there was hardly a dent in their numbers. He lit the pilot on his flamethrower, and squeezed the trigger.
The weapon fired a flammable gel that the pilot ignited as it left the barrel. The burning fluid stuck to most anything and burned for a very long time, as was evidenced by the monsters who roared and screeched as the gel hit them. Phoenix moved the weapon left and right, covering the creatures closest before testing the effective range of the weapon.
Nearby, TCM continued her attack, blowing away any creatures that got too close, and slashing any that by some divine providence managed to get within range of her katana. As Phoenix burned more and more of the creatures, their agonized death screams grating on his nerves, he looked at her again, and realized what it was about the way she fought that had seemed so familiar.
Although it was faint, he could see an aura surrounding her as she fought.

As they walked out into their deaths, one phrase popped into MK's mind. It made him chuckle, and it eased a little of the tension in the air. He said it out loud:
"There is no spoon..." He started laughing wildly. The others had thought he was crazy until they realized how it related to the context of what was going on. Laughs went all around, but now it was time to get serious. He saw the first rocket get fired. "Go time."
The Demons were quick, much quicker than he had anticipated. There was no time for them to wait any longer. "Stay back!" He shouted to the others behind him. He pulled out the Dragon Pistol and they understood. They piled up, some on top of each other, and MK calculated the blast radius of the Pistol as to not hit TCM and Phoenix. Now.
He pulled the trigger. A white energy blast erupted from the muzzle, much more powerful than he remembered. He was barely able to hold onto the gun and keep his balance, but he managed it somehow. The beam ripped across the sandy, wet beach and right into the middle of the fray, where most of the Demons had been crowed and jammed in together, destroying more than a fourth of the army.
"Holy ****!" He shouted, and felt a little bit of energy behind him. He turned to see that KoN and Le'Chuck had been concentrating. He put two and two together and figured that they were channeling their energy into the blast, widening it and making it more destructive. "You could have given me a little warning you know," he said to them. Just then he saw the flamethrower go up in....flames.
"Let's do this!" He shouted to the others. Igniting his Beam Blade and readying his pre-loaded shotgun he ran into it all. --- Host of "Who Wants to Win 5 Bucks?"™ The original game show parody. http://www.geocities.com/madkatt15/index.html Last Update: 1/21 | | From: KnightofNEE2 | Posted: 1/23/2002 11:08:05 AM | Message Detail |
<KoN sliped a bit into the visual code world. He saw MK firing. "Eh...why not..." KoN quickly tampered with the code and saw that Le'Chuck was also transforming the code. The resulting shot took out at least a fouth of the army. KoN then set about to taking over bodies of monsters. "Hmm...let's see...Ah! Perfect!" KoN floated towards an iron giant. He "rammed" into the monster and took it by suprise. KoN looked around and started to adjust. He looked down at the iron giant's sword. A huge group of monsters were sliced in half. KoN quickly exited the body before the monsters could react and looked for another monster. Then he took the body of a bomb. He sat in it for a while, adjusting. Then he started the interal process that bombs are famous for. He quickly exited the body, but let it survive. The bomb expolded in a nova of fire. "Hehehe, that takes care of that..." MadKatt was in a fury. He had wasted all 8 of his shells running to the Demon army and packed away the shotgun as soon as it was depleted. The Beam Blade was already warmed up at that point so he started cutting left and right. Thankfully, the Demons were not that smart nor were they quick enough for him, but they certainly were big and powerful. One swipe from their mighty claws or fangs and he'd be a goner.
But it was not like MadKatt was new to fighting, especially with a sword or other bladed weapons. He had trained under his grandfather, who had studied various forms of martial arts. Swordplay had been one of his favorite weapons so it quickly passed on to MadKatt. MK had a lot of free time on the outside world so he used much of it to practice. And he had gotten very good over the years.
"Yah!" He screamed taking down what was probably his 10th monster. Duck, go in low, cut down their torso. Kick in the gut, slice the head. Let it attack first, cut off the arm, take the rest of it down. Quickly, he dispatched three more, but another eight came in close. Gotcha. He pulled the pin from one of the few grenades he had picked up back at the station. Bye bye. He ducked under the flailing Demons, escaping in their confusion and heard the blast moments later.
He saw a highlighted Demon stride by, taking down other Demons. The glowing highlight left as the Demons pounced on the attacker. The glow reappeared on some other Demon and MK figured out what was going on. It was KoN, Le'Chuck must have been using telepathy to warn MK which Demon he was. Good. I won't have to worry about taking down the wrong person.
He heard giant footsteps behind and felt a wind pushing down on him. Too slow! He shouted in his mind, plunging the Blade behind him. It found it's mark, on a Demon that was about to strike. It fell to the ground, dissolving like all of them had. He pulled another grenade pin and tossed it into a crowd of Demons and got the hell away. Just another 100 or so to go... He sighed to himself. --- Host of "Who Wants to Win 5 Bucks?"™ The original game show parody. http://www.geocities.com/madkatt15/index.html Last Update: 1/21 | | From: the cookie monster | Posted: 1/23/2002 8:47:28 PM | Message Detail |
TCM didn't understand what was happening to her. Nor did she really care about it. She felt great. It was a strange sensation. It was new to her but it felt so familiar at once. The adrenalin rush, the heat in her body, she could almost feel the energy run through her. Phoenix was doing great with his flamethrower. She could feel the Demons getting fewer with every slash she did. They were doing good. To good?
"Phoenix, don't you think it's a bit easy?" TCM asked as she stepped towards him, back to back. She admired his strength and ability to endure the heat.
"Yes...... and it frightens me......" Phoenix growled. The situation was not as life-threatening as he had expected. Obviously he wasn't the only one to think so. Sure there were times where he thought his head was gone but still, it wasn't that difficult.
"The guys down there are doing good too...." TCM said as she took a glance at the rest of the gang further down the beach. She saw Phoenix nod silently as he dispatched another couple of monster. She knew he was running out of fuel and tried to do the best with it.
"When do you think happens the big thing?" TCM asked as she stopped and reloaded. They were standing on a little hill before the Beach. They could see the action from below. Phoenix threw away his used up Flamethrower and stopped to stand next to her.
"If not now then on the sea." He said and jumped down, prepared to re-enter the battle. TCM looked forward and watched the Island Damn Island.... She said and smiled at her thought.
"Just what I thought." She said to herself and jumped down to continue the battle.

(OOC: Okay, I've got something to post now. Here goes.)'
Phoenix ran towards the boats, taking off the flamethrower backpack and grabbing his sword off his back as he did so. Demons tried to stop both himself and TCM, who was right behind him, but a few slices as he passed slowed them down, and TCM finished the off. The others, namely MadKatt, Le'Chuck, and KoN, were just ahead, also running towards the boats.
The demons were powerless against the five warriors, who ripped through them like a tornado in Kansas, cutting them down left, right and center. There was no thinking. There was only action, and death. Well, a lot less death than they had thought, actually. It was like Damien wasn't even trying anymore.
Another group of demons was just ahead, but Phoenix didn't slow down at all, just cut through them, swinging his sword almost wildly, the excitement and chaos preventing him from using more effective techniques.
And then, they were at the boats. Just like that.
"Pair up and go!" Phoenix yelled as they ran down the shore, having spent fifteen seconds getting enough breath to say that. Although the battle had been too easy, it had also been rather long.
As it happened, the two separate groups stayed together, and MadKatt jumped into a boat, followed by KoN and Le'Chuck, while Phoenix and TCM jumped into another one. The boats were fairly typical rowboats, and Phoenix manned the oars while TCM fired repeatedly at the closing demons.
In five minutes, they were safe. Phoenix gasped in relief and lay on the bottom of the boat. It was over. They were home free.
"...we won..." he whispered. TCM turned to look at him, not having clearly heard what he said. "We won..." he repeated louder.
It took fully thirty seconds before the impact of the words actually hit him, and then he was standing up in the boat, screaming at the top of his lungs, "WE WON! WE WON!" over and over again.
Of course, fate has the wonderful ability to know exactly when you think you're out of trouble. It also likes to make sure you know that you haven't even hit the worst of it.
On the Island of Light, unbeknownst to the five "winners", Damien was finishing up his most powerful creation.

OOC: My posts are going to be divided into parts to give you guys time for feedback and such... In other words... I'll be controlling the plot for a bit...
*Le'Chuck ran... Holding KoN in front of him... and twisting the minds of the demons as to not attack him but the allies... MadKatt was nearby... and he helped him as much as he could... And he saw the boats... and sent a message to KoN to return to his body... then continued to twist the minds of the monsters...*
Le'Chuck: Perfect... Everyone is here...
*Le'Chuck threw KoN's body into a boat and immediately sliced a demon coming at him in half... He pushed the boat off... And sent a psychic blast of energy which pushed all the demons away...*
Le'Chuck: Hurry up everyone... Just get in now...
*Le'Chuck jumped into the boat... and began using the oars... Every last ounce of strength went into those oars... Just to get them out to sea... and towards that island... A few minutes past and he looked at KoN... He didn't know when he had woken up... but he realized that the throw must have hurt him... and Le'Chuck cast cure on him...*

Slowly but surely the Demon numbers were whittled down from army to just a small force. They were still trouble, but not as much trouble, leaving them the opportunity to get to the boats. He shouted to the others as he saw TCM and Phoenix go for one of them. "Time to get moving!"
MadKatt tossed another grenade into the dwindling crowd of Demons and was satisfied when he heard the explosion. Good bye Demons... And with that he quickly strode off to one of the boats, the others already there. But there was one Demon on an intercepting path to him. It reached him before he was able to reach the boats, fighting intently on keeping him from salvation.
It swung left and MK ducked under it. He rammed the Blade into the Demons gut, but the stubborn Demon would not die just yet. It knocked him back, the Blade coming loose from its insides, but still in MK's grip. Screw this. MK threw the Blade right into the Demon's head. He had grown attached to the Blade, but now was not the time to worry about it. He wouldn't be needing it where he was going now. The others had already shoved off from the shore, but they still waited for MK. He jumped into the closest boat, KoN and Le'Chuck in that one. Le'Chuck grabbed the oars and started rowing away from the Demons. He heard them roar furiously, but they were already on their way.

Damian smiled. Of all the reactions he could have had he smiled. He hadn't expected them to get this far, but their shoddy plan had actually worked. He had hoped that they would make it to the Island though. Phoenix sat back down in the boat, noticing that the boats seemed to be drifting on a preset course toward the Island, still some distance away. That would mean he wouldn't have to row unless they needed to hurry up.
And there was no hurry. They were safe, at long last.
He looked at his weaponry, and realised he wouldn't need it anymore. He took the assault rifle and threw it overboard, along with the insane number of clips he had taken from the station.
"What are you doing?" TCM asked as he did this.
"We're not going to need these anymore, right?" he explained briefly.
"That's true," she replied, but Phoenix could tell she had misgivings. He had some as well, but he ignored them. They were safe, finally, and there wasn't going to be any way to change that.
He tossed the grenade launcher over the side, then prepared to throw the sword, but for some reason, he couldn't let go. It was several moments before he realised that he didn't want to throw it overboard. He mentally shrugged and put the sword on his back once again.
After that was all done, he laid back and prepared to sleep. The battle had worn him out more than he cared to admit.
(OOC: For the purposes of story, if TCM, and only TCM (since she's the only one in the boat with him), wants to talk to Phoenix, he'll be awake, if somewhat tired. If no one talks to him, then he's asleep even after we get to the Island. Once we get there, you can't seem to wake him up, as he was truly exhausted. OOC: 5 seconds point....)
TCM watched as Phoenix lay back and drifted of to sleep. She was tired herself but she couldn't risk to fall asleep. There was something bothering her. It was too easy, too damn easy...... and in the water we are vulnerable.... She thought and hoped that her thoughts wouldn't be true. Although a Kraken would be a rather unpleasant surprise. TCM kept her weapons after a short while. They could never know. She watched the other boat. It was drifting parallel to themselves but quite far away. Not even if she shouted they would hear her.
"How convenient..." She growled silently and continued to watch the sea. It was calm. It seemed so out of place. Most of all it was quiet. After all the screaming and firing silence almost hurt her ears. Could this be? Could this be final? How can it? It was to easy. TCM worried again. She took of her weapons her muscles ached under their weight although keeping them close enough for any surprise attack. She sighed and watched Phoenix. He slept peaceful. His breath steady. She could have bet he had a dreamless sleep and smiled at her thoughts.
"I wonder what happens from now on...." She whispered into the wind and then, as it always happened when she thought about the worse, it happened. She looked towards the other boat and saw it drift away from them.
"WTF?" She said and turned to watch. But as she did so they vanished on the other side. She turned towards Phoenix and shook him awake.
"Phoenix wake up!" She almost yelled and turned towards the other boat. She yelled after them.
"MadKatt!! Le'Chuck!! KoN!!" No answer they had vanished in some sort of distant mist. They weren't surrounded by the mist though. The place was clear. Phoenix had woken up but still looked exhausted.
"What?" Phoenix asked disorientated. TCM turned towards him and swallowed hard.
"They... vanished..."

"I'm fine," he answered Le'Chuck. But in actuality, MadKatt wasn't. The boat had hit shore and they had gone onto land, to the sanctuary of a no-Demon zone. But two of his team mates were missing.
"Cookie! Phoenix!" They had called out to them, but all in vain. The boats had drifted apart, even though they struggled against the current, but they were still separated. Damian must want to rattle us. MK thought to himself, as he usually did. They were hiking up a small hill inland, trying to find the others. Well, it's not going to work. We've come too far now. We're not going to let him scare us by breaking up our numbers. Besides, no harm could come to us here. But what about the real world? Damian might be pointing a gun to their heads right now.
Out of the question. He wouldn't have wasted his time separating us if he was going to shoot us dead like that. Besides, it's not his style. But he must be planning something....
"Hey, look!" Le'Chuck said, pointing to something in the distance.
"A Station!" MK exclaimed. They needed a rest after what they went through. They all ran to the building, which was a welcoming tannish color instead of the usual dull-gray. A quick look inside did not turn up much though. It looked more like a gather area instead of a refill Station. Which was perfectly fine for them, but they were hoping to find their lost team mates.
"I say we split up to look for them. Le'Chuck, you head east. Nee, you head west. I'll take the north road. This island isn't that big so we should find TCM and Phoenix pretty fast." With that they headed their separate ways.
That was about 15 minutes ago. I can't even see the other shoreline. This island is bigger than I thought. Something caught MK's eye. There was a golden chest, sitting on a pedestal in a forest clearing. How strangely familiar... MK walked up to it and saw an inscription on the pedestal:
The golden key, the vines defend Unlocks the deadly Blade. Twin dragons can bring the end, If one they are made.
Just below was what looked like a large keyhole. Golden key, the vines defend....The Dragon Pistol! MK brought it out, glad that he had kept it. He placed it into the slot and with a click the chest unlocked. MK reached inside and pulled out a golden cylinder, which bore a resemblance to his Beam Blade. A dragon twisted around it, the mouth becoming the shroud to where the Blade comes out of. Kind of useless now, but let's play with it...
He pressed a button on the dragon's back and a large energy blade ignited from the mouth. It was at least six feet long, much longer than the original Beam Blade. It was a sight to behold and a power to be reckoned with, MK realizing that when he brought it down on a nearby tree, instantly cutting it in two and igniting them into flames. "Holy crap!"
It was a belated gift, but he liked bladed weapons. I'm definitely keeping it. He tucked it away and continued his search. --- Host of "Who Wants to Win 5 Bucks?"™ The original game show parody. http://www.geocities.com/madkatt15/index.html Last Update: 1/21 | | From: Man5iac | Posted: 1/29/2002 8:08:51 PM | Message Detail |

Phoenix and TCM drifted silently towards shore. Both were way to scared that any of their thoughts might actually come true. They arrived.
"What now?" TCM asked as Phoenix jumped down the Boat.
"Guess we take a look around." Phoenix said plainly sounding rather disappointed. He helped TCM down and then pulled the Boat in. TCM took out her weapons.
"Here." TCM said as she handed him over a set of guns and her extra Shotgun. He accepted them quietly cursing himself for having thrown away his own.
"How did you know we were going to use them?" Phoenix asked as they started their way over the Beach into the tropical Forest.

(OOC: I hate hackers.)
Feminine intuition? Phoenix thought as he put the powerful handguns in his shoulder holsters, Well, weirder things have been known to happen. He put his sword on his back, and held the shotgun in his hands. Now that they were pretty sure Damien was up to something on this supposedly tranquil island, it felt very good indeed to have a gun in his hands.
"So, what now?" TCM asked as they looked around the area they had landed.
"I suppose we look for the others," Phoenix said, "If Damien really is here, then we'll be better off together rather than separated."
"Good idea," his companion replied with a nod. When she didn't move for a few seconds, Phoenix realised that she was waiting for him to go first. Leading again? Wonderful. It's not like I'm good at this.

Phoenix and TCM entered quietly the Forest. It felt damp and the air was hot. TCM took of her Jacket and tied it around her waist, after a while Phoenix did the same. They had been walking rather silently not used to the sounds the Forest made and the fact that hadn't been attacked. TCM brushed her Forehead with her arm and then frowned.
"Funny...." TCM said more to herself than to Phoenix and brushed over her arm with her hand.
"What is?" Phoenix asked lazily. The heat had made go slow and feel dry.
"I'm sweating." TCM said as if it were the most marvelous thing.
"So am I. What's so great about it?" Phoenix responded as he fought his way through the dense Forest.
"I've never sweat in this VR before. I never felt any special climate change at all." TCM answered and took out her Katana to cut their way through. Phoenix followed her.
"Well that's true. Hadn't noticed before..." He admitted thoughtful.
"I guess this part of the game is more elaborated than the rest. Perhaps that's why this is so special." TCM said and both decided to take that as the answer. It was to hard to think straight anyway. After a few minutes more of walking they arrived on a little path. And the path led to a station.

MadKatt panted as he walked through the dense forest of the Island. How it suddenly got so hot he did not know. On top of that he was sweating, something he didn't think was possible in VR, but it really didn't matter.
Damian must be playing with the weather since he can't do anything else to us...
MK was now walking back to the station. There was nothing else to do since he had reached the shoreline, which had nothing but sand and water. He then decided to head back to the station since nothing was going on. He'd wait there for the others to show up.
He arrived at the station and found that it was just like they had left it. Nothing out of place, nothing new. MK sighed and took a seat, waiting for something to happen. Then, he heard footsteps outside. Though nothing was supposed to get into this Island but players, he readied his new Dragon Blade anyway.

It was hot; it was long; it was getting dark.
It was generally hell. Which, Phoenix thought, sorta figured.
He and TCM hadn't found anything at the station but another message board updater, which neither had used in God knew how long. Phoenix had a nagging suspicion that Damian was able to monitor the board anyway, so they moved on after a few minutes rest.
Now they had no idea where they were, but the hairs on his neck were standing up for some reason. He felt certain that something was not right, but could not for the life of him figure out what.
Then, rounding another bend, they found KoN. Just like that, things started to look a little better.
"Hey, KoN!" TCM shouted, before Phoenix could. Their ally turned and saw them, smiling.
And the hairs on Phoenix's neck, if anything, stood up straighter.

"Where are the others? Where is MK and Le' Chuck?" TCM asked looking around as if to make sure they weren't there.
"Don't know we split up." KoN answered and smiled again. Man what's up with him? TCM turned around and noticed Phoenix looking at KoN. He seemed as if he wanted to pierce him through with his gaze. Good, I'm not the only one who thinks something wrong here.
"Let's go look for the others. Didn't you set up a meeting place or something?" Phoenix asked harsh and approached KoN. This one only shook his head and then turned to walk.
"We should find them easily. The Island isn't big." KoN said as he vanished in the Forest. TCM and Phoenix stood and watched.

MadKatt pulled out the Dragon Blade when Le'Chuck asked him that question. "Well, I found this strange weapon. It's kinda like my Beam Blade except more powerful. Other than that, I got nothing.
"Doesn't seem like anyone was here either. I've been back for at least 10 minutes. You? Oh, and by the way, is it just me or did it get hotter all of a sudden?" He posed the questions to the three-headed monkey. He seemed like he had a story to tell.
