Beyond Fences

Beyond Fences

There are fences surrounding on all sides,

With in this place where many abide.

Who’ve gone wayward in ways unknown,

Here old and young ones alike have grown.

Thieves killers and sex offenders live here,

To keep the world safe without any fear

There locked in cells and kept in deep hole,

What are their stories if they were told?

Do they want feel and need love to?

Are they like us me and you, yes

They are daughters husbands and sons

Who are they do they belong to a love one?

When I visit there my heart grows sad

And when I leave my heart is glad

I’m not the one who lives in fences

My loved one does and pays the consequences

My heart grows heavy each time I come

In locked doors and fences we are one

In the same prison for a visit today

But I can leave and he must stay
