Since 1989, the Village has had this televison channel for the purpose of informing its residents of community events and bringing their local government closer to home. MalverneTV has grown from a smiple screen posting village events to one of the most technically advanced stations in the tri-state area. In 1991, the Village of Malverne became the first municipality in New York State to televise its local governmental meetings. Today, TV 18 serves as a model for government access television throughout the state and country. Each week, new programming as well as an updated Community Calendar is on the air all day and all night. Such featured programming includes local ceremonies, Historical Society meetings, "From The Archives" (a.k.a. "Classic 40"), "Focus of Malverne," and numerous others. We are also home to reports from local elected officials, such as Senator Dean Skelos, and Assemblyman Bob Barra. In 1999, TV 70 went on the web giving people all over the world a look into this unique telvevision channel. MalverneTV.com gives viewers a behind the scenes look at TV 18 as well as seeing the program schedule, meeting the staff, and staying on top of what is going on in Malverne. In 2003, a major upgrade was performed changing the way of editing and broadcasting. Now transmitting in a digital format, TV 18 uses some of the most advanced equipment that is available today. But our work is not done yet. More changes and advancements are on the way. In April 2008, MalverneTV began broadcasting on Verizon FIOS and reaching a braoder audience to better serve the resients of the village.
