Sample Itinerary for a Two Week Trip

Day 1: Arrival
Arrive in Bamako and transfer from airport to hotel. During the day, tour Bamako, including a visit to the artisinal market and museum.
Day 2: Visit Segou and Djenne
Drive from Bamako to Segou. Eat lunch and Segou and tour the port. Drive to Djenne to visit the market and world's largest mud structure. Sleep in Djenne.
Day 3: Enter Dogon Country
Drive from Djenne to Bandiagara for lunch. Drive to Djiguibombo at the top of the Bandiagara escarpment. Then, trek down to the bottom of the lateau and enter Dogon Country.
Day 4: Dogon Country
Trekking in the Dogon Valley, visit Kani Kombole where we have one of the best mosques of all Dogon area. Sleep in Teli.
Day 5: Dogon Country
After an early breakfast we visit the Telem houses in Teli and then trek to Ende for a short visit in it's artisanal market. We then continue along the escarpment to Yabatalu where we eat lunch, then after lunch we trek to Begnemato, a village divided in three parts: Animism, Christian and Muslim. Sleep in Begnemato.
Day 6: Dogon Country
After breakfast we enjoy the Dogon mask dance. Then we hike to Dourou, a village on the plateau where we will meet our 4x4 car. After lunch we drive and have short visits in Nombori, Tereli, Amani to see the sacred crocodile. Sleep in Ireli.
Day 7: End of Dogon Country
After breakfast we go for Banani, Sangha and back to Bandiagara where we have lunch. After we go for Douentza arriving late in the afternoon and overnight stay.
Day 8: Drive to Bambara Maoude to Start Camel Trek
After breakfast in Douentza we drive to Bambara Maoude. Car will drop us off and then we continue with camels to Timbuktu.
Day 9: En route to Timbuktu on Camel
En route to Timbuktu on camels.
Day 10: Arrive in Timbuktu
Late arrival in Timbuktu, and overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 11: Timbuktu and the Sahara
Visit of the town of Timbuktu. After lunch we go for a camel ride in the desert. We visit Touareg camps, and spend the night in one.
Day 12: Leave the Sahara and Timbuktu
After breakfast in the Touareg camp we come back to Timbuktu to meet our 4WD, drive to Mopti, reach the hotel, and a short visit on the Niger River to admire the sunset and visiting the Bozo villages, the Touareg camps and the meeting point of the Niger and the Bani River by Pinasse. Overnight stay in Mopti.
Day 13: Mopti to Timbuktu
Early departure from Mopti, with arrival early in Bamako, relax at the hotel, last shopping in the artisinal market and overnight stay.
Day 14: Leave Mali
Transfer to airport.
