Mickey is a wonderful young dog. She is all business in the field. She obviously
inherited her parents’ "birdiness." In the house, however, she is the most well
behaved, sweetest dog a person could wish for. Mickey has a very correct, harsh,
wiry and dense coat.
We planned on breeding Mickey in the Spring of 2007. Unfortunately, in December of 2006, Mickey was diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia (HD). Needless to say, we, as well as her breeder and the owner of the sire, were devastated.
Mickey has not shown any signs of HD. We simply took her in to have her hips checked prior to breeding. We were sure that everything would be fine as Mickey comes from excellent lines and her parents and all of her grandparents were certified free of HD. This fact only emphasizes the importance of doing the necessary health checks on all breeding stock. Mickey was spayed and she continues to live with us and makes us laugh every day.
