X-COM:
UFO DEFENSE / TERROR FROM THE DEEP
(1994, 1995)
Microprose
My
compadre, Casey, subscribed to PC Gamer back in the day so that
is how I came across X-Com: Terror From the Deep. The demo was included
on a disk, but it only included one measly combat scene. Nevertheless,
I was impressed and I knew one day I would own this game. And that
one day finally came, and I tore through both the first and 2nd
X-Com games without mercy. I even brought my other friend, Josh,
into this one. I think this might have been the first real game
that he had gotten on his new computer.
X-Com
2 was much harder than number 1, but I think number one was much
more fun because of the atmosphere. Plus number two had these annoying
cruise-ship missions that last just waaay too long to be that fun,
but I would still recommend the game simply for the challenge of
finishing it. Everyone remembers "Where is the very LAST guy,
huh!? I know he's here SOMEWHERE!"
There
were three later X-Com games, and 3 wasn't that bad, but it isn't
worth mentioning it here. 4 and 5? They just damaged the X-Com name.
