ONE
MUST FALL: 2097 (1994)
Epic
MegaGames
Before
I actually bought this title, I had a chance to preview it thanks
to this local BBS called "The Tapp Room". Back in the
day of Mortal Kombat, the computer had One Must Fall. This futuristic
one-on-one fighting game featured a large lineup of mech type robots,
each with different fighting abilities. As you entered tournaments,
you could win credits($$$) depending on how well you do and you
used them to buy enhancements for your bot. The game was full of
hidden charactrers and neat animations. There were plenty of tournaments
to choose from and you could even download your own from the internet
(a luxury I didnt discover until much much later). My friend Jason
and I used to hook it up on the modem. I think one of my characters
had a 500-2 win/loss record on the hardest difficulty. Yeah...I
spent too much time with it.
Over
the years, there have been talks of a sequel, but Epic dropped the
title, so the developers were working on an independant version.
So far, I haven't seen it materialize. You can be sure, Ill be on
the waiting list when it finally goes gold.
Incidently,
I always stuck with the starting Jaguar bot.
