HEXEN

Man
I loved this game! It definately was not your average 1st person
shooter. Hexen incorportated the ability to travel back and forth
between levels searching for clues and puzzles. Some levels you
really dont have to go to at all to finish the game. The multi-player
was excellent because of the items you could collect. Pieces of
artifact weapons can be found in hidden places, allowing you to
construct a powerful weapon.
Sam
and I hit the deathmatch and co-op hard for a few months after we
both got copies. The game featured unique items like the "porkalator"
which turns all your foes into little pigs for an easy kill...players
too! The levels are very complex and make for very long games unless
you happen to know where everything is. The story itself is rather
strong compared to other games of that era (Doom, Duke 3D).
I
found that I had come back to this game in early 99' or so, just
because I remember the game being really long and complex. The game
has a built in timer and I remember it took be 3 hours to finish
it non-stop that time through. I played over and over again until
I had it down to about 57 minutes. But that took basicly skipping
all the enemies and going straight to the objectives. This game
is not to be taken lightly.
