dunk for ID Software! If you weren't playing Doom in the early 90s
"you were different and strange"! I loved Doom I, but
since it didnt support modem play until later, I never got into
it as much as I did Doom II. I started playing it with my friend
Sam until 5 in the morning every day ove rthe summer time. I'm sure
every game has at least one experience like that, please parents,
don't get in the way of your children who do its..I assue you, its
perfectly normal! Especially with quality software like Doom! I
had this constant problem on my 386 where we would be playing deathmatch
and for no reason whatsoeer, the modem would lock up and we would
have to restart. Sometimes we would play for an hour without problems,
sometimes it wouldnt last 5 minutes. The problem went away when
I finally upgraded to the Pentium. I think my favorite levels were
the city maps in the middle of the game and favorite enemy was the
SpiderDemon. Making maps with the WADED editor gave multiplayer
that even more dynamic edge. I think I even tried playing on DWANGO
a few times, but that was a long-distance phone call
I
played these two games all most all the time over a two year period.
I went from beating the game on ultra-violence, to beating it with
just a shotgun, then pistol (except for the end where you need the
rocket launcher). I tried nightmare w/ pistol...but that wasnt going
to happen. The game finally moved into the closet when Duke3D came
out (and to a lesser degree, Hexen) I will still play when I get
bored sometimes.
