SEVEN
CITIES OF GOLD (1987)
Ozark
Softscape/Electronic Arts
This
was probably the most entertaining and longest lived game on my
first computer. The plot was pretty simple, you are a spanish conquistador
that is told to go find new lands by the king in the year 1492.
Sounds a little familiar, huh? You start out with one ship and a
little group of men and sail west. Now the interesting thing is,
you search through new lands and discovery gold mines and indians,
you can try to make friends with them or establish colonies wherever
you want. Your colonies can get bigger or smaller and with more
discoverys, your hero gets promoted. Plus you can do cool stuff
like try to kill all the indians, bu the king gets a little mad
when you try that. You don't even have to play with the real world
map, the game will generate it's own worlds! I don't know if this
game even has an end because I've never finised it, and I don't
even know if there really are any cities of gold, but I can keep
trying! Am updated version came out in the early 90s for those who
cant stand the old 4-color sceme.
My
friend Jason and I played this game again in the mid 90s with the
new improved version and it still kicked ass! If you can find it
out there, give it a chance. You probably won't be disappointed!
