In the Hindu trinity, we have the deities Brahma-the Overlord, the spirit and man. Meanwhile, the Christian trinity is composed of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. I don't see what the mystery here is except that priests weaved a very interesting story of God the Father having given his only son Jesus to be born and die as man to save mankind from his sins, to be blessed later by God the Holy Spirit. If they kept things simple at the beginning, there would have been no mystery; but such is the appeal of religion.

In the Christian religion, there is no Overlord (but strangely, belief in a Personal God is not discouraged.) It is a no-no, an absolute denial of what could improve the religion and more importantly, the life and faith of its followers. Man does not figure in the trinity, rather, he is Jesus Christ as a historical figure. And maybe through him, man will perhaps someday be near God, bypassing the hierarchy which alledgedly does not exist. Man will be united too with his physical body on the day of rapture. Since there is no hierarchy of gods in the Christian belief, the Overself does not exist, and more amazingly, man can be in the grace of God directly.

Interpreting the Christian trinity in the context of the Hindu trinity, it would be found that it possesses no mystery at all. God the Father is God the Supreme but with a little substitution of the Overlord for God the Father's position in the trinity, and man for Jesus Christ would yield the same clear entities like the Hindu trinity.

THE CHRISTIAN TRINITY

THE TRUE TRINITY

The Christian trinity is represented by a triangle or a pyramid of deities with God on top. This makes things a bit complicated because it shows each of the deities as being equally accessible to the other two: God the Father has each of the other two deities on his right and left sides; Jesus and the Holy Spirit, too, have God on one side and one of the other deity on the other side. This arrangement is not really mysterious because it doesn't mean anything and could not be subject to interpretation .

Since the concept of the Overlord does not exist in the Christian beliefs, no connection can be made that God the Father may at one time mean the Overlord, unlike the Hindus who kept interchanging the meaning of Brahma as Supreme and as Overlord. This leaves room for an open interpretation of the deity, unlike in the Christian trinity which is rather stiff, the deities assigned thereto not having traits that could expand our understanding of them. It therefore takes a big leap of faith to substitute the Overlord, the spirit and man to the trinity.

The Overlord is not a very common concept and if not for the references in the Hindu religion, I doubt that any other religions contain dogma about it. Are we sure it exists? If we believe in the hierarchy of gods, the Overlord - and not our spirit - is what relates to the other gods in the hierarchy. Man is insignificant compared to the spirit, and the spirit is insignificant when compared also with the Overlord; beyond our respective Overlords is the realm of other Overlords and the lesser gods of which man cannot have direct experience or knowledge of.

To summarize, God is top brass, the lesser gods of the hierarchy being under Him, and below any one of them are the Overlords or Personal Gods who command several spirits which give life to man. There are many Overlords under the lesser gods, and interestingly, the Hindu religion has a term for these lesser gods who are in charge of a populace of Overlords and personal Gods; the deities are known as Manu. I believe this term was conceptualized more as a convenience of categorizing the members of the hierarchy than as really trying to describe each of their respective characteristics. As such, we shall limit ourselves to discussions of the Overlord.
