Main Event Wrestling Simulator

Overview
For those not familiar with the term, "wrestling simulators" are any application or activity designed to "simulate" or recreate in an artificial way, professional wrestling, usually in the form of in-ring action. In most cases, "wrestling sim" is used to denote usually home-made or non-commercial, text-based wrestling sims or games for the PC which are usually (but not always) free for download, though board and dice games, as well as console wrestling games, also technically fall into the definition. Main Event is a "sim" of the first order, free text-based (no graphics) homemade PC application.

Please feel free to download one, two or all three versions of Main Event, by clicking on their links below (note some versions may also contain the actual source code):

Downloads

Main Event 3.0 [self extracting .exe, Win9x/VB format, 2MB] The current and last version of Main Event, written in Visual Basic 5. Athough written in VB, ME3 is actually more like ver 1, as it is not a game, but will allow you to create, edit and delete wrestlers and pit them against each other in one-on-one matches, and generate HTML commentary files, though it uses its own unique and simplified match engine.

Main Event 2.2 [self-extracting .exe, DOS/QB format, 1MB] The only previous version worthy of mention between 1.0 and 3.0, ME2.2, more closely resembles the old commercial PC WWF Microleague Wrestling games from the 80's, where two players could choose moves from a menu on the screen and play it as a "VS" game - this was the last version of Main Event written in QB.

Main Event 1.1 [.zip, DOS/QB format, 500KB] Main Event 1.0, also written in Quickbasic, allows you to choose two wrestlers from a handful of different "stables" or rosters, and pit them against each other - it will generate the entire match commentary, all based on a match engine which very closely emulates Tom Filsinger's fairly inexpensive "Champions of the Galaxy" card and dice game.
