Installation
The default installation folder/directory for Main Event 3.0 is C:\me30 but should be able to be changed without any problem. Note however, that all original and user-created files MUST BE PRESENT within the directory that contains the Main Event 3.0 executable.

Starting Main Event 3.0
Once the installation program is complete, you have the option of launching Main Event 3.0. Otherwise, double clicking on the me30.exe executable file in the Main Event 3.0 folder will start the program.

Main Screen
The Main Event 3.0 main screen has five main features:
The Info button will allow you to see either the Main Event 3.0 "About" dialog box, or "Instructions" for Main Event 3.0 (this file).

To create a new wrestler, click the "Clear Wrestler #1" button to blank all the fields out, to make sure you won't have any information you don't want, then enter the required information into the fields of Wrestler #1 and press the "Save" button - your wrestler will be saved as whatever you entered in the "Name" field. Be careful - if you save a wrestler whose "Name" field is identical to that of an existing wrestler, the old wrestler will automatically be overwritten. Also, the roster will load only wrestler files with no extension (Hulk Hogan. ) so if you save a wrestler with an extension, you will not be able to load and edit him with Main Event 3.0 - you will need to manually rename the file. For detailed information about the wrestler statistics fields, load a few wrestlers to see how they are set up, and also see the brief descriptions below:

Name besides the obvious, this is also the filename the wrestler will be saved as.
Hometown currently, this has no real bearing on the game but is important for the match introductions. Just enter what you would expect, such as "Detroit, Michigan" or "Parts Unknown". Without the quotation marks, of course.
Weight again, no real bearing except for the introductions. Do not enter the measurement afterword, as Main Event automatically supplies that, and uses only standard American "pounds".
Sex besides the obvious, this helps determine the pronouns that Main Event 3.0 sometimes uses (he/him/his/she/her). Sorry, it is a strictly Male or Female listbox - no "yes please" answers.
Favorite Move #1, #2 and #3 these are the weaker moves, though they still do slightly more damage (that damage increasing slightly from move #1 to move #3) than the "stock" or default moves that the wrestlers have to choose from during the match. Memorable and unusual (but not necessarily very powerful) moves should be placed here, such as a really quirky karate chop, punch, bodyslam, etc. that a particular wrestler is known for (such as Benoit's Wolverine Kicks). Only in rare cases do the weaker default moves and Favorite Moves make a pinfall possible.
Set-Up Move this is a pretty devestating move which helps soften up an opponent for a wrestler's finisher. Benoit's Rolling German Suplexes, Jake Roberts' Short Arm Clothesline or Kneelift, Sting's Stinger Corner Splash and Hulk Hogan's Corner Clothesline are all prime examples of set-up moves.
Secondary Finisher in the tradition of the THQ WWF games for the N64 (not to mention the way modern wrestling is done), most wrestlers seem to have two different "Finishing Moves" that almost always end the match. The Rock's People's Elbow, Benoit's Air Canada Headbutt from the top rope and the Undertaker's Chokeslam are all examples of Secondary Finishers, which are still devestating, but still can't compete with the impact of the Primary Finisher. For wrestlers without a secondary finisher, simply enter their primary finisher name here too - it will basically be a less powerful version.
Primary Finisher this is THE most devestating maneuver in a wrestler's arsenal and almost always finishes the match. A good rundown of some common modern Primary Finishers would be the Rock Bottom, the Walls of Jericho, the Crippler Crossface, the Stroke, the Scorpion Death Drop and the Diamond Cutter.

DO NOT PREFACE ANY MOVE NAMES WITH THE WORD "THE" - Main Event will do that for you.

You can then check your results to see if you successfully created your wrestler by clicking the "Wrestler Utilities" button, which causes a small menu with a scrollbox on it to appear. Looking through the scrollbox (or "roster") until you find your wrestler. This is also how you load existing wrestlers from the roster - find the wrestler you want to load, click on or select the name and then click on the "Load" button. That wrestler's statistics will be automatically entered in the appropriate fields in the wrestler statistics area. Note that both wrestler statistics area work the same way, but both have their own set of buttons - saving Wrestler #2 will not save Wrestler #1 as well. To edit existing wrestlers, simply load them as normal, make whatever changes you deem necessary and click the "Save" button - their old information will be overwritten. One tip is to double check the roster afterwords, if you changed the wrestler's name, since the wrestler will be saved under the new name, not the old one. So, for example, if you loaded and were editing The Undertaker and decided to rename him just plain Undertaker, Main Event 3.0 would save this as a new wrestler, effectively copying The Undertaker. This can easily be remedied by deleting the old wrestler once you're sure the new one is correct. This can also be an easy way to "clone" a wrestler.

Deleting a wrestler is as simple as entering the "Wrestler Utilities" roster, clicking on a wrestler and clicking the "Delete" button. The wrestler will immediately be deleted from the roster, never to trouble you again.

Don't want to go through the trouble of picking out your wrestlers but want a good quick match? No problem, just click the "Random" button under both Wrestler #1 and Wrestler #2 and Main Event 3.0 will randomly choose and load your wrestlers. Do pay attention, however, because sometimes the program will choose the same wrestler - simply click the "Random" button again on either Wrestler to pick another.

Main Event
This is the "meat" of the game and will execute the match. When you first click this button, a dialog box will appear, asking you what filename you want to save the match commentary as. The default name follows this formula: "Wrestler#1-Wrestler#2".html. If you want to change it, just type in the new name, but make sure to include the .html extension - you won't be able to view the match later using Main Event 3.0 if it isn't saved as an .html file. Once you've named the file, the whole match will run and be saved as the specified filename. Main Event 3.0 will then open and display the match commentary. Once you have read it, simply click the close button [x] in the upper right hand of the commentary to return to Main Event 3.0.

View Matches
Clicking on this button will bring up a dialog box with a list of all the .html files within the current directory, because all match commentary is saved as .html files. Click on one and the "View" button to open that file up and read the commentary. You can also delete any or all match files by selecting the filename and clicking the "Delete" button. The me30readme.html file (this file) is listed with the match files, but for safety's sake, cannot be deleted (go ahead and try).
