CHAPTER 1
*)Agama Sutra: One of the Buddhism Sutras. The collection of
lectures of Buddha Sakyamuni which was edited by his disciples
after his death.
*)Mahayana: The teaching and the practice in Buddhism which is aimed
not only to search for one's own happiness but also to lead all
souls into Mahayana in the end. On the contrary, "Hinayana" is the
teaching and the practice which ismainly eimed for one's own
happiness.
*)Mahayana: The world of absolute freedom, happiness and joy which
transcends the phenomenal world, the Astral world, and the Causal
world. Originally, all souls who used to stay in this world had
fallen down to this world of suffering being influenced by the
energy called the three Gunas. It is the highest world within
Nirvana.
*)The six realms of desires: The world which exists below the Realm
of Non-Form and the realm of Form ( the phenomenal realm). They
are; heaven, the Asura realm, the human realm, the animal realm,
the realm of hungry ghosts, and hell. This tells that the human
realm exists at the fourth from the bottom of all worlds.
*)Nirvana: The best world where the spiritual practitioners of
Hinayana go.
*)The practice of six perfection: The system of practice so called
"Six Paramita" in Mahayana Buddhism. Master Asahara uses
"perfection" rather than "Paramita" as the precise translation of
the original language. They are; "offering", "observation of
precepts", "patience", "intenseive effort", "meditaion", and
"wisdom". This also indicates the stage of merit.
*)The four immeasurable minds: Equality, love, mercy, and to praise
others. In detail please refer to the lecture 5.
*)Chakra, the Astral world, the Causal world, the Body of
Essence....: Please refer to "the explanation about the structure
of the universe" at the beginning of this book.
*)Enlightenment: A man to transcend life and death and to become the
being with absolute freedom and absolute happiness. One of the
perfection in the spiritual practice.
*)special initiation: "Initiation" is the special secret teaching
from Guru to his disciple including tranferrence of energy. Here,
he is talking about the three hours of initiation which Master
Asahara had given to each members who had made an offering for
building Fuji Head Quarter.
*)Shakti-pat: The technique to develop one's spirituality such as
awakening of Kundalini with the help of direct transferrence of
energy from Guru to his disciple. Nowadays, Master Shoko Asahara is
the only person who can do this technique.
*)seminar: The intensive practice which was held once in two or three
months in AUM Shinrikyo. The schedule included the lecture of
Master Asahara, Pranayama, Mudra, meditation, and so forth.
CHAPTER 2
*)India, the mother land of Yoga: At August, 1987, Master Asahara had
visited Egypt and found various prooves that Yoga was prosperious
in antiend Egypt. Here, Master Asahara took the general theory
since the main theme is different.
*)karma: the fact that everything which was created as a reason is
sure to make a result. For example, good deeds and bad deeds at
the past returning back to oneself.
*)true self: The real self which existed before the creation of the
three worlds which begins from the Causal world. It has the
character of "eternity", "never ending", and "joy". Three worlds
were created because this true self was influenced by the energy
called the three Gunas.
*)the origination of the twelve conditions: the main teaching in
Agama Sutra which was taught by Buddha Sakyamuni. Based on his own
experience of spiritual practice, Master Asahara had comprihended
this law which no Buddhism scholar could understand was the law
which indicates the process of enlightenment in Kundalini Yoga. In
detail, please refer to his book "Beyond Life and Death".
*)Pratiyahara: One of the four stages in "Yoga Sutra", the sutra in
Raja Yoga - "control of senses, concentration, meditation,
Samadhi". It is the state when one never recieve any influence
from outer world.
*)Guru: Religious and spiritual leader or teacher.
*)Kyushu Branch Center: One of the branch center of Aum Shinrikyo at
the western part of Japan. It was made at Fukuoka Prefecture on
October 1987.
*)The matter concerning with building a center in Shizuoka: The plan
to build the main head quarter of AUM Shinrikyo in Shizuoka
Prefecture to greatly help the salvation plan of AUM Shinrikyo.
*)the active precept: deeds which is recomended for spiritual
practice. Here, Master Asahra speaks about the three offerings
which was taught by Buddha Sakyamuni.
*)Shanti-Taishi: Please refer to Chapter 2.
*)Khema-Taishi: Please refer to Chapter 2.
CHAPTER 3
*)Tantra: "Tan" means secret, and "tra" means Mantra, or the holy
words.
*)Ida, Pingala Sushumuna: Three main energetic channels in human
body.
Ida Channel...The channal which starts from the left hand side of
coccyx, passing through each Chakras, and reach to the left hand
side of Ajna Chakra.Ida, Pingala, Sushumuna: Three main energetic
channals in human body.
Pingala Channel...The channal which starts from the right hand
side of coccyx, passing through each Chakras, and reach to the
right hand side of Ajna Chakra.
Sushumuna Channel...The channel which starts from the center of
coccyx, passing through each Chakras along back bone, and reach to
Sahasrara Chakra.
Ningma-pa: The oldest school which is considered to be the origin
of all the Tibetan esoteric Buddhism. Padmasanbava had brought
this teaching from Northern India at the latter half of the 8th
century.
Kagyu-pa: One of the schools in the late Tibetan esoteric Buddhism.
Marpa who had learned the teaching from Naropa in India had
founded this school at 11th century. His disciple Milarepa had
made a great effort for its development.
Shakti-prayoga: The transferrence of energy for the development of
spirituality. Difference between Shakti-pat is that this has no
direct touch. It is considered to be effective for curing
deseases.
Devil's abode: To have physical and mental troubles by being
connected to the lower Astral world. One goes in to devil's abode
when the mental spiritual practice is not enough compared to his
physical spiritual practice, or when the spiritual practitioner do
not have enough merit.
Supernatural power: While doing spiritual practice to attain
enlightenment, one can naturally obtain supernatural power which
can be the measurement for the development of the spiritual
practice.
*Salvation: There are three pillars in the salvation which is
advocated by Master Shoko Asahara. They are;
to liberate people from the suffering of deseases,
to bring happiness in this world,
to lead people to enlightenment and self realization
The ulimate aim of the salvation plan of Master Asahara is to sum
up all these three salvation so as to lead all souls to Mahayana
which is the world of absolute freedom, happiness and joy.
lecture 4
"Bardo Yoga": Please refer to the book of Master Asahara titled,
"Beyond Life and Death".
Thorough knowledge of past lives: The ability to know the past
lives of oneself and others. One of the supernatural powers which
can be obtained by the right spiritual practice.
MR. Joyu, Ms. Yamamoto, Ms. Miyakozawa: Disciples of Master Asahara
who is now Maitreya-Seitaishi, Kisagotami-Seigoshi, and Uppalavanna-
Seigoshi. Each of them went into "the spiritual practice in the
isolated room" from July. They also came to this intensive seminar
which was held at Chichibu City in the Saitama Prefecture but kept
practicing in the almost similar state to "the spiritual practice
in the isolated room".
The spiritual practice in the isolated room: Please refer to the
beginning of the Chapter 2
Their holy names: The name which is given by Master Asahara to his
disciples as the proof of attainment. Mr. Joyu, Ms. Yamamoto, and
Ms. Miyakozawa were all admitted as the attainers on the tenth day
of this seminar, and given the names; Maitreya, Brahmani, and
Uppalavanna with the title of "Taishi" which indicates the
attainment.
High virtue: Here, it means the person with great amount of merit.
*Great virtue: Here, it means the person with the amount of merit
enough for the condition to become Buddha.
Kind in the Astral world, the king in the Causal world: To become a
person who is filled with merit in the Astral world and the Causal
world.
*In the sutra, ...: "The law of the twelve origination of
conditions" in "Agama Sutra" or "Suddanipata"
CHAPTER 5
*In the sutra, ...: The sutras in Mahayana Buddhism such as the
three sutras to praise Amitaba.
*Heaven...Asura...: Please refer to the lecture 1
*the sutra of Buddha Sakyamuni: Here, he means "Agama Sutra".
Three brightness and six supernatural powers: In Buddhism, it is
said that one can obtain six supernatural powers;
*Divine Legs: ability of levitation
*Divine Ears: ability to listen to the sound or voice of far place
and other dimentional worlds.
*Divine Mind Reading: ability to understand other's thougths
*Thorough Knowledge of Past Lives: ability to recognize past lives
*Thorough Knowledge of Future Lives: ability to recognize future
lives
*Extinction of Flux: ability to understand all desires
One can obtain all these six supernatural powers when he attains
ultimate enlightenment. Three brightness means "Thorough Knowledge
of Past Lives", "Thorough Knowledge of Future Lives", and
"Extinction of Flux" out of six supernatural powers.
*god: There are two meanings in "god". The one is the beings who
lives in the heaven of the six realms of desires, and the other is
the creator who lives in Mahayana. The god which often told in
Christianity generally speaks about the gods who live in heaven.
Here, he means the Great Lord Shiva who is the true self who lives
in Mahayana, or the absolute god.
