| ~Sunset Ride~ I was galloping near the coast of Mexico Breathing in the breeze through my filtration mask. The Geiger counter clicking less and less Drinking nutrient supplements from my flask. The sky was clear for once Such a contrast to the fields of flame and bone. And I stopped dead in my tracks When I saw in a little clearing what had grown. A patch of white flowers Here, far from man, life had again taken seed. I would bring here those who had survived with me I turned away from those white pedals, and spurred my steed. Someday I can take off this armor Touch my friends, my horse may rest yet. I smile gently under my visor, seeing hope As I turn back, for the last time, to ride into the sunset. |
