More Expatriates Needed
The Cantons Basel, Z�rich, Geneva and Zug are not satisfied with the central governments decision to allow only 20.500 new work permits for next year. They claim to have an enormous need for foreign specialists in Telecommunication-IT, Bio-chemistry, Bank Analysis and Textile. Mr Burkhard at the Z�rich Dept for Business and Work Permit says: At one hand we have a vast fear of over crowding by foreigners among our population, on the other the isolation from the global market. The central government spokesman Kurt Rohner replies : The decision is made by us, and us alone.
eMagS conclusion: Anyone who want a work permit will have to hurry up as no change in the Swiss isolation policy is to be seen in the near future.
10 Billion SFr in Bonuses
Swiss banks UBS and Credit Suisse have rewarded their co-workers and especially their managers with a total of 10 Billion Swiss Francs for the year 1999. (53 Bn SEK) The two banks have almost 200.000 employees in total. If it had been evenly spread among the co-workers it would mean an average of astonishing 50.000 SFr/Person. 10.000.000.000 SFr equals the entire GDP for Zambia or four times the GDP of Eritrea......
