| well, here we are i've finally decided to protest the crap that subprofile.com does to me and so i've moved the contents of my subprofile to my website. I hope you don't mind, it's the same stuff, and i intend to update it as often, but the popups were driving me nuts and when it stopped working i just couldn't deal with it anymore. so enjoy. |

3/12 "more for a mustache than a finger!?!?" nate - on hearing that the penalty for cutting off a finger was 4 units of money in 11th century russia, while it was 12 for cutting off a mustache (however that's spelled) "lead a good christian life, kill some people" - one of my classmates' summaries of vladimir monomakh's advice 3/10 "who's pushkin?" while this may seem like a rather boring quote (but hopefully you don't think it's a valid question), keep in mind that it came from a russian major who's graduating this spring and was directed at irina - who was so dumbfounded by what appeared to be one of her favorite students' idiocy that she was certain she had misunderstood the question. it had to be repeated - then the look on her face was priceless :-D 3/3 explaining deviation from the summary assignment: "i kinda forgot what happened in the story, so i kinda made it up" 2/28 "What?!?!?! I thought it was a satire!" - see what happens when you read 12th century russian lit? "it's amazing how so much can happen in his life and it's still not interesting" "don't give in to vice and such when there's something more productive to do" "like what?" 2/27 "it means 'to glance' [response: a look that means why the FUCK would you know that word in russian?] what? it's right up there w/ 'gazebo'...don't ask" 2/26 "russia is the endpoint - the goal. we all should be so lucky to be russian." |
