The reality that teens experiment with drugs is generally accepted. Not much attention has been given to this issue. Teens who are active in drug abuse do not, for the most part, consider it a problem. Seeing as how they have used for quite some time they may be fooled into thinking that there are no dangers or consequences resulting from their habit. Cancer does not just show up full-blown out of nowhere, it builds up. Just like the behavior of active drug users. Your life does not fall apart after one hit or one sip. It�s a progressive process. Very few kids who get into it early on kick the habit early. Unfortunately for most, the drugs have to bring them to their knees for them to realize its harmful effects. The worst part about this is that that idea seems unfathomable to those who use because they feel like they are "getting by." There is a lack of knowledge on addiction in most teens, which may have to do with the carelessness in their behavior. The vast number of kids using is growing and that is a bad sign for our future. The lack of emphasis and concern on teen drug use will be detrimental to our society if it keeps up.
