| 1819 25 poor children. were taught at the parishes expense |
| 1838. work house children were taught to read |
| 1818/1833 there were four day schools all run by women, having a total of 78 pupils |
| 1825 Sarah Andrew left �40.00. 00d a year for the free education of Shipley's poor children. |
| 1827 A school house and Masters House was built North of the Church 67 boys attended. |
| 1837 the school had 40 pupils. Poverty made attendance irregular. |
| 1849 there were two schools as well as the National School |
| 1851 A girls School opened in a building erected by Sir Charles Burrell and Mrs Vernon Harcourt |
| 1872 the Girls and Boys Schools were managed together |
