Jimmy Lin : I Begin Professional Racing In Zhuhai
"I'm the first foreigner from Taiwan to win champion and I received it in Zhuhai International Circuit....." Along with the cheers, Jimmy had special feelings when he mention about Zhuhai. Jimmy had been ra- cing for as long as 8 years, and had won 13 to 14 champions. Towards his winnings in 2000 wh- ere he bagged away 2 champion throphies, his memories of it is still fresh. "I started out professional racing in Zhuhai. Although I had ever took part in car racing in Taiwan, and got champion before, the circ- uit in Taiwan is short, unlike in Zh- uhai which has the standard circ- uit for racing." At the pit stop, Jim- my was wearing a silver racing suit. This time, in the 2 rounds of the races, he had won 2 first - run- ner ups. There are many artistes who like car racing, like Jackie Chan, Dave Wang, Aaron Kwok, Nicholas Tse, etc, but they just treat it as a hobb- y. However, for Jimmy, he definite- ly didn't treat it as a kind of 'trendy sport'. He's not only able to sing and act, his racing skills are abs- olutely professional. Starting from 1997 after he first tasted the feel- ing of racing in Taiwan and won second runner-up, he seemed to bag several throphies after that every year. He ever won champion in Taiwan's Super car race 4 ti- mes consecutively. Now, Jimmy have to participate in 20 over rac- es per year, and has become a car racer, career-wise speaking. Currently, Jimmy is the first salary- paid car racer in Taiwan, and is al- so the spokesperson for Jia Tong
Tyres. But the difference betw- een him and other spokespers- ons is that he not only advertise for them but has to 'get into the real action' and race for them too. Removing his racing suit, Jimmy revealed a black T-shirt and you will be able to observe his thin fr- ame. After he had ended his con- tinous practising, he didn't rest but generously offered help the others preparing for the race. Beside his beloved number 8 'war vehicle', Jimmy began to ch- at with the media about his 'raci- ng bible': Weather -- must be go- od, car -- a good one that is suit- able for yourself, People -- racers and workers must be able to ex- hibit teamwork....if all these 3 fac- tors are fulfilled, "Then you'll sur- ely be able to achieve good resu- lts." He told the media that as the 20- 04 F1 international race will be held in Shanghai, his current go- als is to acheive the participation qualification in F3 race. And in Zhuhai, it will be the starting point for him to advance further in racing. It will also be the bridge for him to head towards the international F1 racing circuit. (14/4/2003)
