Jimmy Lost 3 Millions Worth Of Income To SARS
Due to the SARS crisis, Jimmy made a loss of almost 3 millions in his income, especially his favo- urite car racing and advertising activities are all cancelled becau- se of SARS. He had actually acce- pted a Chinese film project eariler on, but this was postphoned as well, and he had to exclaim, "For- get about the decrease in income, what disappoint me most is that all the racing event are halted due to SARS. Actually, I'm suppose to go to China to take part in a race this year, now it has to be cancell- ed." But he has returned back to Taiwan to rest and accompany his family members, furnishing his new house situated in Nei Hu and taking care of his computer company, turning himself to a ty- pical office worker, and the feeli- ng is just different. Jimmy turned his office in Taiwan to a computer and technology co- mpany, and the business has be- en increasing. Everyday, he works for more than 10 hours, hoping to convert his office successfully. In future, he hopes that racing will still return back to normal, and hi- s filming work can start again by the next half of the year, so that he can earn back the money lost. With car racing as his favourite s- port, it was initially planned that he would head for China soon to take part in the formula finals, es- pecially since he is always the champion record holder for this group of the race, and he was fill- ed with confidence and expectati- ons, but unexpectedly, the event had to be cancelled, and Jimmy was very disappointed, "Because I am the spokesperson of some of the related products, I would earn a fee everytime I take part in
a race, now that the race is can- celled, I could only shift my focus of my career to my technology company, everyday going to work and knocking off at fixed time, ju- st like a typical office worker." Although he's not able to go Chi- na, he said that fortunately there is still another racing event next being held in Malaysia, where it is not so affected by SARS. Even though SARS is spreading wide- ly, Jimmy is still living as usual, just that he will remember to we- ar his mask and remember to practise personal hygiene and taking his temperature. He said, "Fortunately my office workers le- ad a simple lifestyle and even if they have to meet clients, they are usually the regular clients, so we're not so affected by SARS. Basically, I don't pay cont- inous attention to the repetitive news reports of the crisis, beca- use the more you watch, the mo- re paranoid you'll be. Moreover, I feel that the way the media hand- led the issue of the disease is too over, so other than being ca- utious, I'll still continue to lead my life as usual, I won't live in the shadows of SARS." Previously, Jimmy accepted the invitation of the city traffic bureau, and specially attended a campa- ign activity. Jimmy laughed and said, "Because I'm a car racer, sometimes, I would speed unk- nowingly. Of course I received speeding fines, but after taking part in this event, I will be very careful when driving, slow down my speed. This way then will I be a life example and able to co- nvince others as a campaign ambassador." (21/5/2003)
